THANK-YOU Badger. Enjoy your money, are you going to do something special with it? I'm putting mine towards buying my Motability car at the end of her lease.

    What were you reclaiming:A loan

Who was the provider: Sainsburys Bank

How much did you get back: £2502.36

    Refund of Premiums £ 608.36
    Refund of Interest £ 209.32
    Early Settlement Diff £1,296.83
    Interest @ 8% £ 387.85

    Total £2502.36

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I requested a copy of my credit agreement on 20th January, upon receipt I noticed that there was a pre ticked box for PPI and I remember at the time they insisted that they had a courier service wait while you signed the documents and then handed over your cheque. I therefore filled out a template form from here a few days later, stating that I signed where indicated as I felt under pressure not to take too long as someone was waiting at my door.

I received a standard letter acknowledging my complaint on 13th February- Letter with response on 6th March.

Interest payment up to 3rd April so I assume I won't be receiving a payment before then.
Not too sure I understand the Early settlement difference? I did pay it off early, does that indicate that I was charged for a % of the total PPI when I cleared my loan? Can anyone advise? Just for clarity more than anything else.

Thanks to everyone for the info on this site it really is fab :T:T. I have 3 other claims out at the moment, 1 with Tesco (response due by the EOM) and 2 With Egg. They won't be for a lot but it all helps.

You are correct, when the loan was settled you were given a rebate of the ppi, the remaining ppi was still on the loan.

    Any advise of this please

    Thank you for your email.

From the information you have given it appears that the company you are dealing with is Claims for Refunds Limited. I can confirm that it is an authorised claims management business with the authorisation number of 18156. This means that they are authorised to carry out regulated claims management services. There is a website at and Claim4refunds is a trading name of Claims for Refunds Limited.

Our remit, in respect of complaints, is to look into the way in which a business has handled your claim, and decide whether the business has handled your claim in accordance with our rules. If, having determined from a valid complaint, a business has breached its terms of authorisation, we will take appropriate action, as necessary, in accordance with our enforcement policy. However, it is important to note that any action taken will not directly affect your claim, and The Claims Management Unit, or Regulator, cannot do any of the following: -
    • Re-open a claim.
    • Change, or influence, any decision made by the Financial Ombudsman Service or Courts.
    • Make representations to third parties on your behalf.
    • Take over the handling of your claim.
    • Advise you on legal matters, or disputes, not related to the Compensation Act 2006.

The issue that you raise is a private contractual matter between you and Claims for Refunds Limited and you need to refer to the terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed the paperwork. If you do not have a copy of the terms and conditions or documents that you signed you should write to the business and ask them to provide you with a copy. I advise you to keep a copy of your letter and send it by recorded delivery so you can prove it was received.

As the claim is now at the settlement stage the business could argue that their full fee is due as there is no more work to be done. If you need advice on your contractual rights and obligations you should contact Consumer Direct (08454 04 05 06) or your local citizens advice bureaux.

If you are dissatisfied with your dealings with this business ie lack of response to phone calls, I suggest that you make a formal complaint to the business suggesting how the issue could be resolved. You should do this in writing and send it by recorded delivery. You should expect a response from the business in line with the businesses complaints handling procedure. .

    • A business may decline to consider a complaint that is made more than six months after the complainant became aware of the cause of the complaint.
    • A business must send a written or electronic acknowledgement of a complaint within five business days of receipt, giving the name or job title of the individual handling the complaint for the business, together with details of the business’s internal complaints handling procedures.
    • A business must, within four weeks of receiving a complaint, send the complainant either:
    a) a final response; or
    b) a holding response, which explains why it is not yet in a position to resolve the complaint and indicates when the business will make further contact (which must be within eight weeks of receipt of the complaint).

Regarding the point about whether the bank will contact Claims for Refunds Limited about the settlement offer – you need to refer your terms and conditions as there may be a clause that says you should keep them informed of any communication between you and the bank.

If you need further information please contact us and quote reference 173032.

I suggested this, write to them asap and put what i said in my other post, they may just renegotiate the fee, you wont know until you try.

    Hi there

Are you sure they mean that amount as a full total and not that of each loan?
    .

Actually it is £1200 for each of the Loans (totalling £3600).
