Could someone please advise who i could seek advise from regarding a credit card offer that I have received through from Bank of Scotland.
On 5th Sept my OH and myself sent off 3 complaints to Bank of Scotland regarding Halifax, Sainsburys, and UNIFI credit cards. They were all taken out within 9 months of each other and had the same revolving credit on the cards. The PPI was also removed from them all at the same time.
In Dec we received offer letters for Halifax and Sainsburys, and we accepted these offers and cheques were issued. I had to chase UNIFI as had heard nothing. Due to an error on their behalf they had linked my two claims (UNIFI and Sainsburys), that were under seperated claim no's together. They advised would sort out immediately and has taken numerous calls to date to eventually get offer on UNIFI.
The problem I have is that the amount is considerably less than the other two cards. ON tel today to get advise as to whether they would be able to look into today they advised would be put back in system and call within 28days again, so did nothing as yet.
    Details as follows.
Halifax cc- refund of Premiums paid 1560.26
refund of int on these premiums £2559.50

Sainsburys cc - refund of premiums paid £2016.37
refund of int on these premiums £3678.33

UNIFI - Refund of premiums pd £1772.96
Refund of int on these premiums £1351.25

So in affect i paid more premiums on the UNIFI than the Halifax and only £243.41 less premiums on the UNIFI than on the Sainsburys.
They state refund is all premiums paid, and simple interest at 8%.
They then added approx £20 on top of each to cover further 8% int for additional 30days to allow for cheque to arrive.

Would anyone have any advise regarding this or will I have to go back to them and get put back into the pile. Any help appreciated.

When you win redress on a Credit Card the card is reset to the start, they recalculate the card and for any month you have a credit balance you do not get the 8% for this, this could be why this card is less redress than the others, it is possible they have only paid redress for the past 6 years and cannot go further without statements, Credit Card redress is worked out different to loans and some cards get more back than others.
  • Hi Guys, I just wanted to add another PPI reclaim success to the thread.

I was reclaiming PPI cover sold to me as a student (unemployed) back in 2001 when I took out an HSBC credit card. The balance on the card went up to nearly £6000 at times during my broke 6 years at medical school . Without having to go to the ombudsman I managed to get back just under £2500 of "cardholder protection insurance".

In all honesty HSBC were actually very good with the whole process having a direct line to the "reclaim" department in bristol. When I sent the initial letter off I received a letter almost instantaneously recognising they were looking into my case and then another one at 8 weeks apologising that due to the high volume of claims that they will be taking another 4 weeks. This was not a surprise as I know that the FSA had allowed them an extra four weeks. 2 weeks later I received a letter stating my PPI had been cancelled and then shortly following that my offer letter.

As I've managed to pay off my credit cards now the money went towards an engagement ring for my girlfriend and we're due to get married in July!

I have to say that the reclaim was all too easy because of MSE and the forums. I couldn't be happier.

To those who haven't claimed, don't give up! What have you got to loose?:T
  • I have several claims for PPI ongoing and been successful in a few. Halifax paid me out even though I'm certain that I ticked the box. However Santander have refused me for the same reason even though I sent them a letter from my employers proving that I get paid sickeness pay for absences. Have gone to the Ombudsman. What do you think of my chances
  • What were you reclaiming: Personal loan
    Who was the provider: NatWest
How much did you get back: £5,847
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Got it back after a PPI claim form sent to Natwest
I really didn't expect to get anything back at all!! I took a loan out in 2001 or 2002, for around £12k if I remember correctly. I clearly remember saying I didn't want the PPI, but was told I had to or I couldn't have the loan. I was desperate at the time, so I relented. I didn't have any paperwork from such a long time ago, and couldn't even remember exactly when I took it out, but nothing ventured, nothing gained eh?! I sent my form off 8th January this year, and had a reply this morning, for the above amount. I am delighted!! I would sincerely like to thank this site, and everyone who contributes to it for giving me the information and encouragement to go for it. I had success some years ago with reclaiming Bank Charges, also from Natwest, and also with the assistance of this site. :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:money::A:T:T:T:T:T:T

As good as any, the box ticked may go against you but you as you could pay the card if unemployed why did you need this ppi?, let us know how you get on.

Amersall, I sent off my complaint and today they upheld it! They have not given me any idea of redress yet as they are waiting for info from nemo loans with details of what we have paid.
They have said they will put us back to the position we should have been in had we not taken the PPI of £12000 and only took the loan amount of 49000.
Whatever redress we get, I am so grateful for, but most of all I am just so pleased that after all these years of feeling so depressed that we got stung by the PPI theives, justice has prevailed!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j that was me when I got the post today!

Sorry to hear this, did you listen to the recording? it could be that it was edited so that the FOS only heard what they were meant to.

Yes I head the recording and no it wasn't edited.I t was that my wife had been on the phone for 15 minutes and wanted to finish the call so she just agreed. Fortunately she only paid about £150 over the course until I cancelled it.

On another note I have just found out that I paid PPI on a loan and mortgage I had from Feb 2001 to Dec 2001 and am now in the process of claiming this back. I hadn't claimed earlier as I believed my mortgage at the time had no ppi on it but have now found out it did when I re mortgaged and took out a secured loan. I have a list of all the payments made which come to £240.40 on the mortgage and £208.54 on the loan.I know it's not a vast sum but what would the interest be approximately on these amounts.
