What were you reclaiming: Personal loan
    Who was the provider: NatWest
How much did you get back: £5,882
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Got it back after phoning the RBS claims department who took my details.

I rang the department on 5th Jan and received my letter 2 weeks later saying they were looking into it as it was a refinanced loan. I received my offer on 3rd march and sent my acceptance off on 5th march and the letter stated that the payment would be made within 28 days.
After reading some posts here it sounds like the payments are being made quicker is that correct? And it also sounds like you will receive a text and then some payments? I don't mind if I have to wait 28 days as I am thrilled with how quickly it has all gone through but would love the money earlier to clear my cc and be debt free :-)
Thanks for all the advice from everyone on this site

Both mine and my husband's money was in our bank accounts within a week of us sending back the acceptance forms.

  • I claimed to First Plus and was told that they would not give me anything back because they have phone recordings of me asking for PPI. I went to the ombudsman. within 3 weeks I got an offer of £14,000 - yes that is correct . Why my PPI was based on a 2nd mortgage that I had repaid within 5 years so they owed everything plus interest .

Note - You can claim direct -no need for middle man, be persistent you can do it , dont take what they say first time round it is rubbish. and do it yourslef

When you win redress on a Credit Card the card is reset to the start, they recalculate the card and for any month you have a credit balance you do not get the 8% for this, this could be why this card is less redress than the others, it is possible they have only paid redress for the past 6 years and cannot go further without statements, Credit Card redress is worked out different to loans and some cards get more back than others.

Thanks for your reply amersall. not sure i understand what you mean about a credit balance though. They did confirm that they did refund all premiums back to 2002 when the card was opened. You dont think it is worth querying with them then? I suppose they are not likely to have got it wrong, although the 3 cards mirrored each other from the beginning really.

Amersall, I sent off my complaint and today they upheld it! They have not given me any idea of redress yet as they are waiting for info from nemo loans with details of what we have paid.
They have said they will put us back to the position we should have been in had we not taken the PPI of £12000 and only took the loan amount of 49000.
Whatever redress we get, I am so grateful for, but most of all I am just so pleased that after all these years of feeling so depressed that we got stung by the PPI theives, justice has prevailed!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j that was me when I got the post today!

    Hello there,

Many congrats re Nemo. I'm just about to start the fight against them for ppi. Did you use a template letter to request the rebate? can you post it here? Thanks very much :)

    Well done on your success!

I won a case against Nemo back in 2007, ok they were not easy, and it did go as far as the FOS in the end, the FOS listened to the recordings and that was that, upheld!

They were very pressurising when we taken out a loan with them.
The first loan was arranged through a broker, lender Nemo, that we had to make the complaint against the broker, because they dissolved it was resolved and paid out by the Financial compensation scheme, and the further advance loan, directly arranged with lender Nemo.

    All the best.;)

Thankyou:j Im still jumping for joy! I used the template letter from MSE and just added some things in and deleted things that were not applicable. I dont have the link I am afraid, but I am sure someone more familiar with the site can direct you.
Really good luck. Its so very easy with the template letters, I cant beleive that there are companies taking 30% to do this! I had been robbed once, wasnt going to let that happen again, thanks so much MSE:beer:

Hi Guys, I just wanted to add another PPI reclaim success to the thread.

I was reclaiming PPI cover sold to me as a student (unemployed) back in 2001 when I took out an HSBC credit card. The balance on the card went up to nearly £6000 at times during my broke 6 years at medical school . Without having to go to the ombudsman I managed to get back just under £2500 of "cardholder protection insurance".

In all honesty HSBC were actually very good with the whole process having a direct line to the "reclaim" department in bristol. When I sent the initial letter off I received a letter almost instantaneously recognising they were looking into my case and then another one at 8 weeks apologising that due to the high volume of claims that they will be taking another 4 weeks. This was not a surprise as I know that the FSA had allowed them an extra four weeks. 2 weeks later I received a letter stating my PPI had been cancelled and then shortly following that my offer letter.

As I've managed to pay off my credit cards now the money went towards an engagement ring for my girlfriend and we're due to get married in July!

I have to say that the reclaim was all too easy because of MSE and the forums. I couldn't be happier.

To those who haven't claimed, don't give up! What have you got to loose?:T

    Excellent, well done to you!

I have several claims for PPI ongoing and been successful in a few. Halifax paid me out even though I'm certain that I ticked the box. However Santander have refused me for the same reason even though I sent them a letter from my employers proving that I get paid sickeness pay for absences. Have gone to the Ombudsman. What do you think of my chances

    Hi there

    Wishing you luck.
The FOS will take a look at 2 sides, and the chances are in my view is that you will be fine, the FSA, the regulators etc have come down on businesses like a ton of bricks now, and as you have concrete evidence, also enclose a copy of that to the FOS, i'm sure you will be fine.

    Fingers crossed.;)
