I recently used a company to claim back ppi, i was constantly on the phone to them asking for updates but no one would ring me back. I contacted the bank in the end for an update. I recently had a letter off my bank offering me a settlement i rang the company i was using to ask if i should accept that was two weeks ago and they have not replied so now i have the cheque in my hand. What is the legal rights of the company to claim commission if i have had to do the works myself.
  • Just received a letter from Santander (was Abbey) who are upholding my complaint for mortgage paymentcare (accident and sickness). Claimed mis-sold on the grounds that I already had payment protection with work.

Receiving £1,950... still in shock!! Thanks MSE for the confidence to go ahead with the complaint x

    Hi There,

    Congrats on your success!!

Can I ask how long ago you took out the insurance with Abbey please?
I have a similar claim but its so old they dont have records so they say!

    Thanks

    Hi there
I assume you signed consent and declarations form with the claims company?
As for never going through a claims company myself I do not know the legal rights as such, but if you feel they have failed in dealing with the complaint for you and are not happy with the way you been treated by them, maybe you could argue on those grounds, I am not certain, but otherwise what you could do is contact Claims Management (Ministry of justice) who the claims company should be registered with if legit, and see what they have to say.

Good luck and well done on your success.

    • PPI reclaim on bank loan
    • Barclays Bank
    • Refund received: £900
    • Received after submitting 1 form to Barclays
We used the Financial Ombudsman form available on the MSE site. Loan had been for home improvements. It was straightforward to fill in the form. We received a refund without any further intervention and within the given period for a decision.

In our case the adviser did not make it clear that PPI was optional. Also did not tell that the cost of the insurance was a separate item, did not explain the benefit of it and did not say about the terms, for example that the premium was collected over the period of the loan. Also not told that we would pay interest on the insurance cost.
The main questions that we asked was what the loan would cost per month and the period of the loan. The main consideration for us was whether we could afford the loan ie the monthly payment.

I would encourage anyone to make a claim if they've had PPI. Money Saving Expert have done a great job in applying pressure to the financial institutions and getting a straightforward process which you can easily do yourself.

    • Who with- NatWest
    • Personal Loan
    • Amount repaid £4,230
    • One letter
    :j:j:j

Having been successful in reclaiming PPI on one personal loan, I realised that this loan had been one of many consolidated loans. I wrote to Natwest explaining this, I had no account numbers to provide. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter yesterday outlining repayment on 5 previous personal loans, they could not locate details on one in 1993. The total was £4,230. Acceptance letter signed and posted. Sheer delight. Thanks to all on the forum for your inspiration :T:T
