I have also spoke to the bank as i do online banking and can see the money coming out on my statements but no account number. The bank says they can not help is this correct?0

Today I have had my very first PPI Success!!
After following advice on here I put in two complaints. One for my Lloyds TSB loan which I mis-sold PPI on and one on a Capital One Credit Card I had about 5 years ago when I was never given any option it was just added.
I had only had the card for a year and probably used it once and paid it off within two months. I knew PPI was added as I queried the extra charge at the time and was told it was mandatory. As this was a few years ago I had no statements left and didn't even know the card number! On my complaint I provided my full name and the addresses I resided at whilst I had the card.
I got a letter from Capital One today and was fully expecting a fob off but to my surprise they have investigated and upheld my claim!
Now to the juicy bit! The settlement!
"I can confirm that our offer of redress totals £4.76 (premiums of £3.42, interest of £0.28 and an additional interest of £1.06)"
Not the biggest win in the world but it is the principle of the matter that counts and like I said I probably only used the card once!
So today I have treated myself to a posh coffee and cake all on Capital One!

I got the telephone call and saved it on my last pc which had a virus so now I have lost it..I did sens a copy to the FOS who ruled against my claim which is why I did not purdue it further. I thought this one would be an easy win because when I received the SAR info the payments were listed as loads of different things across the two years and had been handwritten onto the SAR report too.Was this more than 6 months ago?, you should have asked them to provide the telephone call.0 -
Hi all, I've been a bit of a lurker on here for a few months and in the run up to Christmas, I convinced hubby that he might have some PPI misselling claims on his credit cards and outstanding loan.
Hubby had got into a bit of a financial mess but was meeting his minimum payments each month on credit cards but not really eating in the amount due so to him, there seemed to be no end. Last year, I convinced him to cancel his PPI on all the accounts as it wasn't needed and whatever he had been paying in PPI, he could then pay off the actual amounts so it was a start.
The end of the tunnel was a long way off but he had to start somewhere.
We signed up to a free 1 month credit check for both of us to see what was marked on our credit ratings and history and make sure we didn't miss anything and then promptly closed the credit check accounts down so we didn't get billed at the end of the 1 month free trial.
We then downloaded the forms from this site back in November and submitted 4 claims in total to Natwest, Capital One, Virgin Credit Card & Barclaycard on 26th November 2011.
All of them replied fairly quickly stating they had received our complaints and setting out the dates they aimed to reply within.
Capital One, Virgin & Barclaycard subsequently replied within about 6-8 weeks stating that they would not uphold the claims as hubby had "chosen" to accept the PPI. With Virgin & MBNA it might be the case, he can't remember as he probably applied online but for Barclaycard, he was absolutely certain as he had been approached by a rep at a service station in 2001 who convinced him to take out his first ever credit card and insisted that PPI wasn't optional.
All three credit card PPI rejections are now in the hands of the FOS and we hope to hear from them within the next couple of weeks based on their timescales but......
We won with Natwest!!!!
He's had a loan with them for a long time and consolidated it 3 or 4 times over the years so Natwest wrote to him saying that having worked out the amounts, over the 4 different loans, he would be due about £8181!!! To say we were gob smacked was an understatement - it was fantastic news.
Hubby quickly signed the acceptance forms and we returned them back to RBS - they sent him a text message last Weds saying the funds would be in his account within 28 days but he's been getting various amounts in dribs and drabs from them over the last 5 days, so far, totalling £11.5K - and they've taken out the tax due to HMRC.
We are over the moon - this has practically halved his debts and has changed our future as it means he can now clear two cards (some of the money went straight off the loan as it's still live) and he should hopefully be debt free by the middle of next year.
Of course, if the FOS finds in his favour and any of the others pay out too, that will make things even better but for now, we don't want to count our chickens so are assuming we'll get nothing more - anything other than that is a bonus!!!
Please don't ever use a PPI claims company - it was the easiest thing on earth to do - the form is very self explanatory and I think the banks & credit card companies are finally accepting they were terribly in the wrong.
Good luck to everybody who is claiming and don't sit back if you are rejected - take it to the Ombudsman as you never know what happens. I'll post again with the outcome of our claims with the Ombudsman.
Best wishes
Gelly
