hi, i recieved a letter from halifax offering my a refund of all ppi premiums as a goodwill gesture, they stated in their letter that if i had any arrears on my account over the credit limit the funds would be used to clear that first, then any money remaining would be sent to me in the form of a cheque. I have no arrears on the card and am under my credit limit, so was expecting a cheque for the full amount. today i have checked my online statement and they have refunded the full amount back onto my account and cut my credit limit by the same amount, this is not what i wanted and not what their letter stated, any suggestions as to what steps i should take next? surely they cannot do this as it is not what they have offered in their letter?

    thanks

    Hiya hun
First of all well done to you..... :T  .

I would write back to them as soon as possible to ensure they receive this the following day.

Tell them they have dealt with this matter differently to what it states on their letter and you want this rectified as soon as possible of you will have to consider taking further action on this, also tell them you have the letters as your proof if you have to use them to help your case.;)
Also ask for them to post you a full written breakdown of calculations through the post, tell them you will appreciate them posting these to you for ASAP X

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning everyone,
Just an update, I received a letter from C(r)ap 1 with details of my PPI refund, £117.71, plus £10.24 statutory interest Total £127.95. I had to go all the way with this, as cap 1 were not budging, had all the usual get lost letters, and had to go to the FOS, it took about 12 months from start to finish, but we got there in the end :j .

Once again thanks to the very helpful people on here, di3004, maxdp, pinknicko and anyone else I've forgotten I apologise :o . This refund is another nail in the coffin of my debts, and I couldn't have done it without your help :D

Im waiting for mine also should be hearing any day now! You have got me dis-heartened now haha x Why did you say it was mi-sold? x
I was only in temporary work at the time. They are saying I was eligible as I was working 16+ hours a week but as it wasn't permanent, my argument is that I wasn't covered against involuntary unemployment. They sent me a copy of the advice sheet that the salesperson filled out - think they call it a DNP or similar? - and she has ticked the box to say that she advised me to take the PPI as it would cover me against involuntary employment, even though it didn't, so not sure how they justify rejecting my reclaim...

Feeling much less disheartened now though after re-reading their letter and reading all the lovely words of encouragement on here, thank you so much everyone who has taken the time to read and reply to my post, it really has helped x x

    Hiya hun

Sorry to hear this but if this was not the final response, write back to them?

To save me going back on posts how far have you gone with these hun?

And not to forget you may be eligible to take this to the financial ombudsman service as well once you received the final response and its not the outcome you want to hear.......;)

Keep on at them hun, they will try anything to fob you off.;)
