Just to say that I received a letter from RBS last week - they are going to refund me £6,300 for PPI that I should not have paid for........without going to or threatening with the Financial Ombudsman......thank you RBS for sorting out the Lombard fiasco......:j

    You are welcome :D:D

    Go get em :cool::cool:

    Hi Amersall,

Decided to go to my local branch to ask for their help.
They sorted everything out, explained the figures, apologised for the mess, I have the loan statement showing the loan is now closed and deposited my cheque of £5,865.31. I am so happy that this is now resolved!
Another success total £13,447.80 (£2,668.37 more than the original offer)

I took with me the documents I had found in relation to an overdraft ppi which I never took but I had been paying for since 2003 via direct debit £3.95 per month.
I called Lloyds about it but nobody had ever heard of PPI on a Overdraft therefore I could not lodge a complaint.
The advisor knew all about it but did say that Lloyds no longer sell these. He filled in all the paperwork for me and sent it off.

My advise to anyone having problems getting answers about ppi on loans or credit cards attached to a bank, go into your local branch and ask for their help. My local branch was very helpful so if it worked for me it will sure work for you.
Good luck to all, keep at it, don't forget it is your money!
Once again thank you Amersall x
  • I telephoned Halifax today just to check that I did not have ppi insurance on my mortgage that ran from 1999 to 2004 and found that in fact I did have it on there and also on an extended loan that was in place at the time.
I cant remember having it so when I claimed for all my others in 2009 I didn't claim for this.
I am going to challenge due to the fact I didn't even know I had it but just want to check that the date is not too long ago.I have kept a Halifax account since the time of the loan and currently bank with them too since 2010.

I have just found out that I have been awarded a refund of £4,758.46 from Sainsburys Bank for Creditcare insurance mis-sold when I took a credit card out online in 2003. I registered the complaint by phone, had one phonecall from Bank of Scotland PPI team to clarify some details and within 2 weeks had a resolution. My complaint was upheld because I had sufficient cover for sickness, accident and redundancy through my company benefits but had been "strongly recommended" to take out the insurance without any checks as to whether the product would be any use to me. The refund has virtually wiped out the remaining balance on my card which I am more than happy with as this is what I had hoped to do with it, I didn't want the cash refunded to me (although I never expected to receive such a large amount). Just goes to show you never realise quite how the payments are racking up.....
I hope this provides some reassurance to people in similar circumstances.

hi, has any one had any success with vanquis, i sent off a form last week and today i have recieved it back with a note to say no account found, so i rang them and after them having a look for my account(to no success) the lady told me on the phone that they dont do ppi on cards as the are not governed to. I am sure i have read success stories on her and i am sure my husbands card has got ppi on it, she told me that they only do card repayment protection is this not the same? many thanks michelle
  • I am still awaiting a final reply from Lloyds (on behalf of underwriters) as our first loan was sold by CT Capital and they have turned down a claim because of it being 'time barred'.
They did say they would defend against any iinvolvement with FOS or Court action because of this. FOS did say they were entitled to do this as they were not regulated at the time.
That is the reason we are now going down the 'underwriter' route.
If this fails, does anyone think it may be worth going back to First Plus as this is were the broker placed the loan and when we took out a further advance all the monies was paid back on the first loan to First Plus. As we were successful in getting the PPI back from First Plus on the further advance i was wondering whether there was any redress to answer as they obviously accepted the loan from the broker and gladly took all the money back when it was paid off.
First Plus have already given the answer that this is to do with the broker and not them but as the broker worked as an agent for them, would they have any obligation to see that the PPI was sold correctly before they took it on.
Just a thought whilst i am waiting for FOS and Lloyds to come back.

Just had 2.5k paid by Yorkshire.

    Anyone help with this?

Money went in today covering a credit card & old loan. Then today get a letter from the bank's complaints team saying my complaint was not upheld. They said the PPI was optional and sent a copy of my original agreement, copy of certificate of insurance etc etc.

However, it does not mention anywhere that I will not be covered if I am in a sick pay scheme with my employer. Is this just paperwork, because they have an agreement to reimburse me and did?

Still feel like taking them to the Ombudsman because of the above, any ideas why they'd agree and pay me then not uphold my complaint?
