I'm in shock - and not sure whether to jump up and down for joy yet - i need to check that i've got this right first!! One letter says as a goodwill gesture, they're awarding me £4,489.53. Wow.
Then the other envelope had 3 other offer letters in it, with offers for:
£545.60
£774.31
£1,945.32
They all have different loan numbers on them (my loan has been consolidated a few times so there are diff loan numbers although i only submitted the last one as it's all i had paperwork for) so am i right in thinking that they are awarding me a total of £7,754.76?
I'm so shocked but if it's true, it'll mean my £11k outstanding on the loan will be £3,245 and i can pay it off within a year! :T
Can i celebrate, is it really happening???? :j
Hi freckled24, It very much looks like it :T Although you only complained about the one loan, the fact that you re financed the ones before has meant that they looked at them all. Many congratulations and I think I am right that RBS/Halifax deduct the tax before paying so you don't have to pay HMRC the tax on the 8% paymentsWell done and it's a great idea to get your debt down whilst you have the means to do so :j:j

Its thanks to this forum & the help & encouragement from Dilus & Amersall you both brill. I hope everyone that has claims in gets redress , if i can do it anyone can . I have yet to hear from a few more claims cc i hope i am as lucky with them.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Amazing! Massive thanks to this website - i wasn't going to bother as it went back to 1999 but looks like they've taken it all into account! Drink tonight to celebrate

OMG I love MSE. Letter from MBNA today, they're going to refund my PPI payments on my credit card. Took a credit card out with Alliance and Leicester some years ago, it then changed to MBNA. They said when it changed that they gave me the chance to cancel my policy but I don't remember this so "as a gesture of goodwill they have arranged a refund of my premiums and associated interest" Only one letter sent about 2 weeks ago using template from here and I've got just over £6K:j They also said they are referring my complaint to A&L so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Martin Lewis you are the man:cool:£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

I had £400 repaid from RBS credit card I had for around ten years and never used very much. it was an estimate and I reckon it was fairly accurate so accepted offer after writing to them to complain as outlined on this site. Thanks Martin!0

I had raised a complaint as I could have sworn that this policy was sold to me over the phone...
They have also stated that this is their final decision and to go to the FOS should I wish to take it further.
What are my options now? As far as I can see, I have none : I ticked the box
FOS it incesticide, might be a bit of a wait but go for it, sorry the initial complaint was not upheldtick boxes are a cop out for them, let the FOS deal with it

Been lurking for several months now but this is my frst post so please be gentle with me....
Just wanted to share, I wrote to several companies asking for documents in early December. I gost some back that I thought I could claim on.
I did questionnaires for Dorothy Perkins Card (Santander), Tesco Loan and Halifax credit card all on 20h December 2011.
They all acknowledged really quickly to say looking into and could take up to 12 weeks etc.
Then I got a letter from Santander in middle of January upholding my claim for £177, as I still owed on this account they paid it directly on there - I owed £189 so i had to pay a grand total of £12 to clear my debt with them.
Then today I received letters from both Halifax and Tesco Loan (the 12 weeks would have elapsed on 6th March) The Halifax offered me £329 as this was an old card and I owe nothing they are going to send me a cheque so I'm happy with that!
The Tesco Loan I had, I had cancelled the PPI about 2 years into the 5 year loan as we couldnt claim on it, at the time, they had reduced our payments from £286 a month to £255 a month but we never received a refund.
The letter we received, offered us a refund of the premiums paid, 8% interest and when they looked into the account they realised that when our payments were lowered, they should have been lowered to £243 so offered refund of the difference of the overpayment we had paid for the final 3 years! The loan finished in September 2011 so nothing to pay them and the total refund offered was just over £1300. I'm very happy right now and just need to wait for the payments.
There are a couple more I need to look into and this has spurred me on even more.
Thanks for all the advise on here, it really helped me 'bite the bullet' and just do it!0
