PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi there everyone
firstly I would like to thank everyone on this forum for the invaluable advice I have had.
So far I have had the following successes.
HFC Loan £20,500.00 upheld
Natwest Loan £17,500.00 upheld
Egg Loan £7,800.00 upheld
All of these took one phone call each and no forms to fill in so DON'T use a claims company, it was the best advice that this forum offered me.
I need a little advice on a Barclaycard claim I have had this card for around 19 years and submitted the claim the same as the others, I was sent a questionnaire to fill in which I returned (in the envelope with an orange sticker on it) I don't know if this has any significance.
Although the date for the final response is 28th March I recieved a letter out of the blue explaining that they were sorry for the delay and that they were investigating my claim and that I should feel free to call them if I have any other information to offer them.
Is this normal? I dont want to read something in to it if it is not there.
I would be glad of any help.
Once again a big thank you, after many years of struggling to pay off cards and loans I am now debt free with a nice sum in the bank....
It is normal, fingers crossed.0 -
Hi Jules , I got my cheque from mbna a week after my letter. but looking at posts on here i think they are pretty quick. i aslo got letter off halifax it says if i dont want to accept offer to get in touch within a week. but i have read where pple have just had it put in bank accounts unbeknown to them. so i dont know really looks like the banks have there own rules.
The Halifax are auto upholding now to get rid of the backlog.0 -

miserableindebt wrote: »Hi everyone, been bombarded with ppi claims on mobile, email etc, so today finally thought I would try some of my old loans.
One stood out to me but I paid it off in May 2002, so I rang them today and yes I had paid £5,700 on a ppi. The company is First Plus, it was a secured loan. They stood out because we didn;t want the insurance but they said we HAD to have it. We both worked for Royal Mail at the time in secure jobs, with long term sick pay, good pensions etc.
He took my application over the phone is this ok? Or should I still write?
He said if its successful we will get final amount plus interest. What amount of interest are we talking as I paid this off 10 years ago???
They also said they pay 8% apology fee as well.
Is this pretty straight forward? is it a given? How do I prove it was mis-sold? This was years ago!!!!
Any advice would be very grateful.
We/I believe we were mis sold the ppi on the above account number, and would like recordings,if any to the contrary of my/our reasons for mis sell set out below.
1)We/I were not told that the ppi was in effect another loan that was added to the original loan and was repayable over the loan term with interest.
2) We/I were told that the ppi was a 5 year policy, but not told the ppi would still be on the loan to term end with interest.
3) We/I were told that if we did not make a claim,or go into arrears on the ppi ,after 5 years we would receive the cashback of ppi but were not told this would not include the interest made on these payments that we paid over the 5 years.
In line with the FOS recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.
In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that Barclays pays them back to us. We/i believe we were not given enough information on this ppi to make an informed decision. Had we/i known the full cost of this ppi we would not have taken it.
Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy was fair, reasonable and suitable for my/our circumstances we/I will require you to rearrange the loan as if PPI had never been included on the above loan
The 8% is not an apology :rotfl: what a jokethey pay the 8% as per the FOS guidelines and for no other reason.
As this was 10 years ago, when you get the response, post on here and i will tell you what to do if they reject.0 -
Last December OH sent off for T & Cs for Lloyds TSB credit card he had between 2005 & 2008. Lloyds sent copy of his credit card agreement form showing he had ticked PPI box. As he had been successful with MBNA and NatWest Black card, he decided to complain that the PPI had been mis sold ( same reasons). He received a letter yesterday offering £1216-a full refund of al lPPI payments paid and interest.
Thanks to this forum :T:T:T
Me
Barclayloans £8,300 paid
BOS loan £9,341 paid
Barclays OD protection £3,774 paid
OH's PPI journey continues......
MBNA £4,159 paid
Natwest Blackcard £7,900 paid
Lloyds TSB Card offered £1216

I've just come home and received letters from RBS/Natwest about my loan PPI. I sent the letter around 6/7 weeks ago and wasn't expecting to hear before the 12 weeks.
I'm in shock - and not sure whether to jump up and down for joy yet - i need to check that i've got this right first!! One letter says as a goodwill gesture, they're awarding me £4,489.53. Wow.
Then the other envelope had 3 other offer letters in it, with offers for:
£545.60
£774.31
£1,945.32
They all have different loan numbers on them (my loan has been consolidated a few times so there are diff loan numbers although i only submitted the last one as it's all i had paperwork for) so am i right in thinking that they are awarding me a total of £7,754.76?
I'm so shocked but if it's true, it'll mean my £11k outstanding on the loan will be £3,245 and i can pay it off within a year! :T
Can i celebrate, is it really happening???? :j0 -
Hi all - not sure if anyone else has had this and can advise. I wrote to HSBC using the letter format on this site requesting that they send me a copy of the credit agreement and terms and conditions of a loan I had with them a few years ago as I no longer had the documents.
They have replied saying 'Please note that we are only required to provide information relating to a credit card agreement pursuant to section 78 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 where some sum in respect of that loan is, will or may become payable. Accordingly, where (as in this instance) a loan has been fully repaid, whether by way of a refinancing or otherwise, we regret that we are unable to provide information relating to that loan in response to any request which is made pursuant to that legislation'
I thought that I had read that by law they were supposed to provide this information even if the loan has been paid off?????
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
