    Hi everyone

Really need some advice girls / guys!

My husband has had 4 loans from 2001 with Yorkshire Bank. All paid off before 2010. One from 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2008.

He still has all the original loan agreements from all the loans each showing the PPI that he paid etc

Can he claim for the one's over 6 years old as he has the original load agreements?

(All loans taken with Yorkshire Bank)

    Thanks

    Hi summer

I had all the paper work from my HSBC loans from 2002, 2004 x2 i have sent them the questionaire and they are looking into it!

If i was you i would go for it you have nothing to lose x
  • I had no paperwork or details of any of my previous loans/credit cards so rang the Halifax and got through to the PPI claim dept. The lovely young man on the phone advised me to ring the loan department and ask for any of my loan ref numbers and then ring him back. He transferred me through to the loan dept who gave me the ref numbers and I then went back to PPI and logged a claim based on the fact that I have been employed full time for the last 20 years and would have received full pay for being off sick so therefore I would not have been able to claim on my PPI. He also took my credit card numbers as I wasnt sure if I had PPI on those. This was on 1st February 2012. Yesterday I received a cheque for £9881 in respect of just one of my credit cards and there are seven loans in total being investigated. My husband also rang MBNA on 1st February 2012 regarding a credit card he had 8 years ago and said the same to them and we received a cheque today for £5200 from them.
We sent off no forms and simply made a phone call and received £15000 within 3 weeks and are waiting to hear about the rest. Happy days x
  • Hi guys

I paid off an Intelligent Finance loan approximately 10 years ago that I know I was definitely missold PPI on but I no longer have any paperwork. I was contacted by a claim handler who says they could handle the claim for me. I am tempted but am unsure if I even have the right to claim any more. It is also unlikely that the bank will have kept any records this long. I also had credit cards in the past that I think had PPI added on but again I no longer have any records.

Does anyone think it's worth the hassle? Should I try to claim for myself or go with the handler? If it was a straight forward case I would have no qualms about doing it for myself.

Any advice is much appreciated :)
  • Re: Black Horse Rejection

I've had a rather lengthy (3 x pages...double-sided!) letter from Black Horse rejecting my claim, following receipt of my questionnaire. They site many reasons why I may have been eligible for the policy.......which I can go back to them and argue the point that on the credit agreement there was no opt in OR out of the PPI, it was just part of the agreement they sent me (which I duly signed as we all did!) My query is, however that they state that during the time of the sale, they were not regulated by FSA (it was before January 2005) they go on to say if you are unhappy etc to complain to the Finance & Leasing Association, as the FOS are 'only able to consider complaints regarding policies sold by us between 1st Dec 2001 and 31 March 2003 and then from 14th Jan 2005'. Conveniently NOT for any time in 2004 which I took this loan out! Can anyone help with suggestions on how best to respond to them? Thanks x

DEFINITELY do it yourself! It's too easy to do to let some company take money off you for doing it for you. There are plenty of templates available on this site (search PPI procedures). If you can remember which banks you had these accounts with, I would write to them with a cheque for £1 (to each relevant bank) and ask for copies of your credit agreements. If you had many accounts with one bank, a SAR (Subject access request) may be worth doing, costs £10 but they will send you EVERYTHING they hold on file on you. I've successfully claimed back 2 myself, totalling just over £20k with just a couple of letters sent, so you CAN do it yourself. :)

Do the Sar, they are talking tripe :):) they do not have to send you a copy of the agreement if the CC is settled, not for the reasons they gave!.
The Sar is best, the agreement may not show ppi, this could have been added at a later date.

Thanks, Amersall. Will the SAR show all transactions (ie any PPI payments taken/added) as well? Just wondering, if it's not on the agreement, where will it show me!

  • Hiya ppl, am a newbie so I feel rather uneasy about posting but wanted to share my story.
I had three loans with Lloyds between 2003 and 2008, all had PPI. I found all my paper work and to my horror I had signed and ticked the option to include PPI so even as I downloaded the forms from Lloyds website I wasnt too sure whether they would own up. So I posted my forms on 29th Dec and by 6th Jan I rec'd a reply acknowledging receipt.
On 17th Feb I received a letter with an offer of £9349.59 which was duly credited to my bank account on 21st and 29th Feb respectively.
They have however refused to pay on my credit card taken out 2002 coz I opted and it was a non contact sale....so basically it was my fault. When I tried to claim on this on 2006 after being made redundant they wouldn't pay, so am now taking it up with the FOS.
To everyone thinking shud you go it alone....the answer is a def yes!!!
  • I have just recieved a letter from Capitol one in reply to my PPI claim, it says and i quote

Having reviewed the PPI claims charged to your account i can confirm that Capital One's offer is £154.69(premiums of £125.01,interest of£29.68 and £0.00 8% interest) in full and final settlement of the complaint. We are only required to offer the additional 8% interest when the account would have generated a credit ballance had PPI not have been charged,if we are not offering 8% interest this is because we do not believe your account would have ever been in credit had PPI not been charged.

Can somebody help me out and tell me if this correct and they are allowed to do this.

    Thanks Mick mc

    Hello,
Unlike my other loan the PPI on this one was charged separately every month (not hidden within the loan), I never agreed to this and this was done face to face with an adviser in Feb 2009. I was not sure I would get anywhere with this one but I put in a claim anyway second week in January.
    Received acknowledgment letter etc.
On checking my account on line this morning I noticed an entry for £2,420.86 with the same reference no as my claim. I am yet to receive any paper work but the figures look right.
Another success for me from the most unprofessional bank ever!:j
