  • looking for some advice. Took out a Firstplus loan in 2008 and recently decided to check online regarding reclaiming the PPI. I believe I was missold PPI insurance as when I was made redundant 14 months ago I phoned Firstplus to advise them and they told me that I was not insured and that only my partner (joint name on the loan agreement) was insured. I contacted Professional Personal Claims who have advised how much they can claim back for me. Has anyone had any success in reclaiming PPI against First Plus or has anyone used Professional Personal Claims. Or can you recommend another company to use? or is it easy to do the claim myself to avoid fees? Its all so confusing
  • Hi Lisamack78, having done it myself I would advise you to find out how the Firstplus is handling its PPI claims (phone, forms etc??) and take it from there. I believe they know how much they owe you and if you have all the info and why you think you were mis-sold then I (based on experience with Lloyds) would urge you to go it alone and keep 100% of refunds.....
    Good luck
  • well done to all the winners :T:T:T:T

and those who are still waiting hang on in there your time will come :)

Hello, the Saga continues, No letter from LLoyds so as you suggested I called them. The lady was pleasant, we were on the phone for nearly 1/2 hour with her trying to get as much information from the Loans dept who apparently have completely screwed up the whole thing. I was told that her boss the PPI manager would call me at the earliest today up to 6:00 pm or tomorrow.
I am now eagerly awaiting the call, can't wait to hear what they have to say for themselves. Personally I think they made a mistake and the loan shouldn't have been paid off and closed, since if you do the maths after the cheque they sent for £5865 there is only about £4,900ish left (according to the offer letter) and my balance left on the loan was of £7000 +
If it is a mistake, me going on about it could work against me but I rather know and do things properly, sometimes dishonesty comes back to bite one in the derrière!:(

    Hi Amersall

I did not get a call back, I had to chase them and still no letter about the loan being closed.
Got hold of the PPI manager who admitted that if looked like they had made a mistake and paid too much, this was now under investigation and he was not able to say anymore, I asked about the cheque and he though that it was best to hang on to it until this is resolved.
When I asked but why the lies about the letter being sent about the closure of the loan and he said "I don't know what to say".
When I asked what now, he suggested I call back in a couple of days, I replied you made the mistake isn't customer service courtesy to call the client back? I replied for him, you couldn't even return my call after I was promised that you would call back, what customer service!

I am glad I questioned this, like I wrote earlier better to be honest nothing like peace of mind!
Can't wait for the next chapter, they make it up as they go along, Cretins!
    Thank you for your help!:)

Hiya ppl, am a newbie so I feel rather uneasy about posting but wanted to share my story.
I had three loans with Lloyds between 2003 and 2008, all had PPI. I found all my paper work and to my horror I had signed and ticked the option to include PPI so even as I downloaded the forms from Lloyds website I wasnt too sure whether they would own up. So I posted my forms on 29th Dec and by 6th Jan I rec'd a reply acknowledging receipt.
On 17th Feb I received a letter with an offer of £9349.59 which was duly credited to my bank account on 21st and 29th Feb respectively.
They have however refused to pay on my credit card taken out 2002 coz I opted and it was a non contact sale....so basically it was my fault. When I tried to claim on this on 2006 after being made redundant they wouldn't pay, so am now taking it up with the FOS.
To everyone thinking shud you go it alone....the answer is a def yes!!!

    Hi,

    Well done:T
Like you LLoyds upheld my two PPI loan claims but rejected the credit card taken out 2001. I did not try claim. They said that I went to the branch and asked for the PPI cover on my credit card. I called them asking them to send me a copy of this agreement, the lady replied that they did not hold copies of these but I can go to the branch and i will be able to see the document, I asked her which branch and she said any!
Tomorrow I will be visiting the local branch and doing just that, I never agreed to this PPI, the only cover I have ever agreed to is my life insurance and BUPA.
  • After reading Martin's article on reclaiming PPI, i rang Barclays about a loan i have repaid to see if there was PPI on it.
Received a letter saying they were looking into it.
Two weeks later a letter stating they are refunding me £20, 733
I am so shocked at how easy it was!! and delighted....
A huge Thank you to Martin's money tips! :T

    Hi guys

I paid off an Intelligent Finance loan approximately 10 years ago that I know I was definitely missold PPI on but I no longer have any paperwork. I was contacted by a claim handler who says they could handle the claim for me. I am tempted but am unsure if I even have the right to claim any more. It is also unlikely that the bank will have kept any records this long. I also had credit cards in the past that I think had PPI added on but again I no longer have any records.

Does anyone think it's worth the hassle? Should I try to claim for myself or go with the handler? If it was a straight forward case I would have no qualms about doing it for myself.

Any advice is much appreciated :)

If you use a claims handler, you have to get the info on this loan, you will have to Sar the bank and send £10, you will then fill the form in to make the claim (if you had ppi and you were mis sold)
the claims handler will post this off to IF and take upwards of 25% plus Vat.

    You could Sar IF

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
Enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond, if you have ppi and reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2

    Fill the FOS form in
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Post it to IF (make a copy in case this goes to FOS), sit back and wait, if you win redress you keep it all and do not owe a third party anything :D:D:D:D

So.. if we have a loan starting on the 1/1/2000 and ending on the 1/1/2006 and the ppi complaint was was settled on 1/1/12 then the first premium on 1/1/2000 would get (12*12) 144 months of (8% / 12 (months)) 0.67 % interest?

:D Do not understand the way you have posted this :o.
All i know is you get an amount for each monthly ppi payment you have made, each month decreases by x amount.

Look here on the bank charge calculator

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges#step2

Put each date, month, amount and year of each ppi payment you have made from the first payment 1/1/200 to the date they paid redress, this will take a bit of time and i am sure dilus can tell you an easier way of doing this :D the calculator will keep a tally of the total 8%.
  • My friend encouraged me to reclaim ppi insurance on a loan I took out in 2006. She had successes with Abbey (as was), showed me her cheque to convince me, plus her brother in law and sister, between them reclaimed £30k!!

Came on the site second week of January 2012, downloaded the paperwork, followed the great guidelines, posted the paperwork (cost of a stamp). Received a reply about 2 weeks later that I'd get an answer within 8 weeks!

This morning went to the ATM withdrew some cash without looking at the receipt, shoved it in my purse (just got paid so wasn't expecting anything untoward). Came to work, logged on to bank online to pay some bills, reared back in shock!! £2,600 PPI refund. :j. To say i'm over the moon :T is an understatement. Couldn't wait to come on and share my news. Please don't give up people.

Gonna try for the credit cards now. :D
    Current loan £12,295, Overdraft £550, Natwest C/Card £1295, - AIM - TO SMASH THE JOLLY LOT :D
PPI Success: Lloydstsb loan £2,600 :T, Lloydstsb Visa Credit Card £3,225

THANKS Amersall! I'm not being greedy I just want my money back to put in to Hubby's pension pot. He's NHS and looks like he'll have to finish at 60 leaving 6 years to state pension! This will be a little bit more to live off.
:D if you were missold, the bank were only looking after this for you :rotfl: fingers crossed.
