  • Wanted to say thank you - after reading through the FAQs on PPI I decided to make a call to Northern Rock even though we had successfully claimed once on a PPI policy for our mortgage and I thought that would exclude us from claiming. Anyhow made a 10 minute call a month ago with next to no details to give (didn't even know the account number) but yesterday received a letter offering £7900!! This was not for a large policy but one which cost around £12 per month albeit over 20 years!! So just to encourage others to give it a try you have nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain!!

:mad:Hi Amersall this is a credit card , i do have some old statements from monument. so would i be able to claim this back as its classed as payment break. i was fully covered at work with full sick pay & redundancy package.Monument is part of Barclays & i beleive they try anything rather than pay out. The lady i spoke to said there was no way i would get anything back .So i mentioned going to FOS and she said they would say the same.Thankyou very much for your reply much appreciated.

You need to ring HMRC to ask how much you have to pay,if you are a taxpayer, they will sort this out for you.

Do you happen to know what their number is? There are lots of different numbers and options on their website!

Hi they said as my salary wasnt that big, they believed even if i knew it was optional they thought I would still have elected to have it... it seemed so strange that alone is hoping following me writting to ensure them I would not have taken it out will make them reverse the decision.

I never had this problem with Tesco, Barclaycard and LTSB
Did you have sick pay from work and life insurance? these would have covered the sickness part and life cover,so you would not have needed that part of the ppi.
The only one that would have covered you would be unemployment and that is only 12 months cover,as is the sickness, but you would still be paying the ppi!.
Tell them that you would not have taken the cover as regardless of your income, you were covered for 2 parts anyway, and if you did not have enough income, are they saying you were a bad risk, and if so you would call that irresponsible lending on their part,to give you a loan/CC you could not afford,so "sell" you ppi, make it more for you to pay out of your "small salary".
  • just a little bit of advice needed. sent a claim off to santander the end of december regarding a mis sold ppi with a&l, had no correspondance back at all. have even sent 2 emails. any advice on what i should do next???
    thanks

After years of loans and credit cards which I'm sure I must have payed PPi on how do I go about claiming it back, do I use a company to help me do it? most if not all will be with Lloyds. Help please I'm new to all this.

For Credit Cards you need the card number, for loans you need the account number.
Do you have any of the paperwork at all for any of these, statements etc?.
If not and they are closed accounts and you need to see if you paid ppi,you need to SAR,unless these accounts are less than 6 years old,you can get a free trial of your credit report, this will show the last 4 digit of any account, you can use just these.

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
Thsi will cost you £10 per company,as you have most with Lloyds you only need to send one payment to these.

If you have any account numbers and believe you were mis sold, you do not need a SAR,look here for reasons

Then put a claim in,you can do most over the phone,if you need anymore help, just ask,for free!!!!!.

Did this "payment break" only cover redundancy and nothing else?,if it did, contact monument, ask them to provide proof that you wanted and needed this cover,as you had cover in place for this already.
Tell them you need this info to take to FOS as they sold cover that you already had.

Give FOS a ring and ask about this,it seems to me as you did not need this, how can they say you did?,and tell them that Barclays have said you cannot claim this back, but you have paid for something you did not need.
Let me know what the FOS say regarding this.

Santander are quite quick, ring them and ask if they have your complaint, looks to me like they have not.
Where did you send the claim to?.
