My 3rd claim with MBA has been upheld thats 3 totalling £20k now (1 x CC, 2 X loans)

the CEO there Ian Doherty is very good, emailed him and he gets within a day with the breakdown, if only Lloyd's were as good !

Question though can anyone help - How do i tell the taxman about the 8% interest (does he get it all or just a portion of it), but if someone could tell me who ro write to or website i would be most grateful

    thanks

If you are currently a tax payer, paying 20% on your income, then you would only have to pay 20% of the 8% interest. Hope that helps.

  • Following the advice on MSE and helpful folks on this forum I sent a complaint to MBNA regarding PPI on my credit card going back to 1996.

Today I have received a letter informing me they will be sending me a cheque for £6234.72!

Obviously very pleased with this and it's all thanks to the advice on here and about an hour or so of writing etc! The whole process only took a couple of weeks too!

Thanks MSE :money: and all the forum folks who gave useful advice and encouragement.

    Hi Guys,

Just had a reply from NatWest in response regarding a small chain of loans I've had. They have made a collective "Goodwill Offer" totalling £347.81. Not much but I'm not sure if I should appeal against it simply as I don't know what the real total due should be.

    any advice guys?

    Thanks for your time

  • Me and my Oh have just made phone calls to a couple of banks re mis sold ppi. My OH has received a questionaire from HFC (beneficial) bu their asking questions such as what is the policy number and if your earning had ceased during the term of the loan how would have maintained regular payments? Don't know how to answer these questions because at the time we were both in full time employment and we could have met the payments. We were sold the loan in HFC branch and their staff member told us we should take the insurance as it would mean the loan would be paid to us. the staff member did not say at any point that it was optional.

Sorry for long letter. I also put a complaint in to HFC but have not received any response..
At present we are in a DMP.
any advice on this will be gratefully received.
    Thanks:o

Hi teleop, fantastic result :T well done
MBNA upheld my complaint and I received my cheque 3 weeks before it was expected, they are quite good.
Would you be so kind to tell me if you receive a breakdown, they said that they sent me one before I got the cheque but it never arrived and I need to know how much tax I need to pay on the 8% interest. Will probably have to ring them to find out.
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)

Opened a letter from First Plus this morning to find that I have been offered a full refund of a whopping £8,335!:rotfl:

No need to go through those thevin' claim companies who take a cut of your cash - I used the template on the MSE website and hey presto! a full cough up of PPI premiums plus 8%.

Thank you MSE - this will pay off my credit card, tax bill and a little left over for a good holiday!

You have really turned my circumstances around MSE. I hope that you realise what a crucial service you provide. Give Martin an knighthood for services rendered to the financial health and wellbeing of the nation!
