Just had a reply from the leeds b/s with regards to a mis-sold mortgage payment protection ins. They say that because the mortgage & Ins was through a broker the complaint is with the broker & that this is the society's position in this matter. Is that the end of any claim, any advise would be appreciated. thanks

You need to contact the broker with the mis sell claim.

    Thank you soooo much!

I followed the advice and filled in the template here and made a complaint to LTSB. I had had a couple of loans with them, which had replaced earlier graduate / career development loans to fund higher education. They had coerced me into to taking these and I had never been happy by it or by the large insurance I had been forced to pay as a result. Total cost of loan was approximately £18k

Anyway, I filled in the forms between between Xmas and NYE and today I got a letter saying that I will be refunded £10,295.98! I can't believe it! This is amazing and I'm over the moon. I guess I will hold off celebrating until the money actually arrives. I'm also subject to the 'simple interest' of 8%, so if there is any advice on how to pay the tax on that I would appreciate it!

Thank you so much to all who have written on here and to this website for inspiring me to make the claim.

    :T:j:j:j Brilliant

Ring HMRC they will help you, they could change your tax code so you pay this back over time, although,if you want to pay it in one go :D:D now you have some cash :D then they will tell you how to pay this.

I have just been awarded a settlement (nearly 5k) for a loan I took out in 2000 (Yes 12 years ago) with HSBC. I had the original contract agreement and a pretty good case I think. My question for anyone who can answer is: £2800 is in repaid premiums and the other £2200 in interest at 8%. What do I owe the tax man?

    Thanks for any help

Well done mad :T it will probably madden you to know that it's 20% of the £2200 That's if you are a basic rate tax payer, so £440 :(
Having said that 8% interest is good and at least you have it to pay it ;)

Just to let you know I have recently sent a claim in to Santander re a loan I took with Abbey National in 1996 & have received a letter advising that they will repay the premiums I paid plus interest - a total of £1412. Many thanks as without the help on this site I would never have thought to send off the claim form :)

  • Another step in my PPI Reclaim, I got my Terms and Conditions back from Barclays and a separate letter back saying they have ended my PPI on my BarclayCard. Sent back Reclaim Questionnaire template via special delivery yesterday. Just awaiting letter to confirm they have received them. The fight continues......

    Keep it up guys!
