PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Thank you soooo much!
I followed the advice and filled in the template here and made a complaint to LTSB. I had had a couple of loans with them, which had replaced earlier graduate / career development loans to fund higher education. They had coerced me into to taking these and I had never been happy by it or by the large insurance I had been forced to pay as a result. Total cost of loan was approximately £18k
Anyway, I filled in the forms between between Xmas and NYE and today I got a letter saying that I will be refunded £10,295.98! I can't believe it! This is amazing and I'm over the moon. I guess I will hold off celebrating until the money actually arrives. I'm also subject to the 'simple interest' of 8%, so if there is any advice on how to pay the tax on that I would appreciate it!
Thank you so much to all who have written on here and to this website for inspiring me to make the claim.0 -
Chased up FOS this afternoon and they said that Opus would be writing to me with a settlement in the next couple of weeks. They had a spreadsheet and asked me if I would like to know the settlement figure they had (although they could not confirm this was up to date). The figure she quoted me was some £500 + under the amount I had paid in PPI as I have all the statements for the card, and would therefore not include any interest paid on the card.
She said that Opus would write with a breakdown of the figures and that I should contact FOS with any further info if I don't agree.
Also had a letter from Barclaycard saying that they were waiting for documentation to be retreived from a 2002 loan, (for which I had recently found paperwork, which I sent to them). I rang them as I had asked for details of this loan last year and they wrote and said that they no longer held any paperwork as too long ago. Amazing that it has suddenly turned up! They said they had a new system that could now link everything so I said they obviously got it since last July.
hi, did you ring or email them? how far back are you claiming for? i have statements going back to 2001 so will see what happens

Just had a reply from the leeds b/s with regards to a mis-sold mortgage payment protection ins. They say that because the mortgage & Ins was through a broker the complaint is with the broker & that this is the society's position in this matter. Is that the end of any claim, any advise would be appreciated. thanks0

You could have asked for this to be passed the Ombudsman,if it was an adjudicator who rejected this, i believe you only have 6 months to appeal.0

I had an old (now settled) loan with Northern Rock.
I thought I had to have PPI, and it was compulsory to cover the loan.
As their own insurance was expensive, I thought I was being prudent & bought it independently cheaper.
The loan was in my name only - I had a steady well-paid job at the time with the local council.
I know I declared my pre-existing condition when applying.
When I settled the loan when my husband was made redundant from his payoff, I also cancelled the insurance early.
I now know I need not have had PPI, it was not compulsory and my employer would have paid me anyway.
The PPI company refused my claim saying I had applied voluntarily. I had simply contacted them with an aim to cut the cost of what I thought was compulsory cover.
Any suggestions anyone please?
I have just obtained our (free) credit reports from equifax and having realised the extent of our credit cards & loans over the past few years (before the redundancy & subsequent job changes) - we had about half a dozen loans/cards - most of which were settled from the same redundancy payoff - I was hoping to pursue further potential/more difficult PPI claims, (as we have less paperwork for those) but this has put me off.0 -
Hi
I have been rejected twice from M&S regarding my PPI on my Storecard/Creditcard. So I sent a letter to FOS which they replied that they cant do anything with M&S but if I can find out who the underwriters are.
So I sent M&S another letter and eventually they replied saying it is Allianz. FOS got invloved again and sent M&S a letter regarding this. FOS asked me to fill out another questionairre and send it off the Allianz at the same address as M&S headoffice.
Six weeks have gone past and not even an acknowledgement of my letter wich was sent Special Delivery!
Has anyone else went down this route with M&S Help! I think we are fighting a losing battle!:(:(

Has anyone successfully claimed back ppi from Argos? I have an account and when I placed my first order over the telephone was advised to take the cover. Do I approach them in the usual way using the FOS questionnaire?0

Rang the FOS on the number given at the bottom of their letter. Haven't heard from Opus at all yet.
Card was taken out in 2003 and closed account just before Opus took them over. I have all the statements, which could be useful. FOS said to wait until I get their offer and breakdown and contact them (FOS). If not okay.0 -

I sent my claim to Citi who I took the card out with but the reply came from Opus. Nd20 and I have claims with FOS as no one seems to want to take responsibility for these.
I have opus details at home and will put them on here tonight.
Good Luck with your claim0
