  • I have just got a cheque from halifax for £2081, sounds ok but when I work out how much I paid ppi per month which was between £50-£61 for 43 months plus the 8% interest this dose not match my cheque! What shall I do, dont see the point of sending it to the obs as it could take a long time to sort out, I was thinking of just calling them to see how they have come to this amount. Any ideas????

Ring them and ask them, when they redress a credit card, the 8% is only given when they reset the card and you have a credit balance, you need to get the figures they have worked out the redress for.
  • Amazing, one letter practically copied off this website, it took me 30 minutes to put together and another 30 to walk to the post box and back.

Less than a month later I've received a letter saying Halifax/Aqua/BOS are to refund me 864.66. My workings have the figure lower than this, so I'll take this and move on in life.

Wow what a change to receive a nice letter through the post!

  • Was going to use one of the claims company, because i thought it would be so difficult, but decided to have a go myself using the templates.

One letter to Santander sent Thursday 9th Feb for 2 Alliance & Leicester loans had a reply today - they agreed.

4 days, 1 first class stamp & £5883.86 richer, could not have been easier. Thanks :money:
  • OMG my first post and Im not even sure if Im doing this right:)
Im trying to get my head round PPI (and trust me head is full of space hehe).

Ive not had a loan so know that part doesnt apply to me.
I do have Credit Cards (no debt) and a mortgage. Do I need to tackle them for any PPI reclaims?

Also car & house insurance - does it apply to that too? Ive no idea who they have been with over the 6 years but I have requested the Experian Credit report as advised on here.

Im really really sorry to sound so dim and I really would appreciate any help on this. :rotfl:

    thank you

It was't for a a credit card it was for my mortgage, not sure if it makes any difference, but I will give them a call.
  • :mad:Newbie

Have put in a complaint and questionaire to Barclays for ppi on my overdraft, I have been paying this for the past 14 yrs without even knowing, just thought it was part ofmy overdraft. Anyway I have rang today to get an update for them to tell me my complaint has been rejected due to regulations before 2001!!! What does this mean? can anyone help!!!
  • Hi all!

after successfully making PPI claims against LLoyds TSB (although I'm still doing their leg work for them 2 months after success, trying to get the refund in to the right places to pay off the debt I owed them, because they're incapable of doing anything properly!) I'm now turning my attention to a loan (paid off in 2007) from Northern Rock. I have never banked with NR and this was a one-off loan. So I have no idea what their response is like to PPI claims. Any advice/experiences for claiming from NR on a loan taken out more than 6 years ago would be much appreciated!

    thanks :-) BL
  • Thanks Martin/MSE team.

I reclaimed PPI for a Halifax loan we took out in 2007.
with their "8% interest" offer we received a total of £1174.
We did this by filling in the "official" financial ombudsman complaint form (download from MSE of course!) but sent it to Halifax, not the Ombundsman.

We first sent off the form in early June 2011. We received a letter in September saying we would get a full refund, but no amount specified at this time.

In November 2011 we received the offer of £1174 (and a few pennies!) which indicated they would pay the "8% interest" up to 14 Decemeber 2011.

The cheque arrived early December 2011 but they sent it in wrong name so we had to request another which took about another 7-8 weeks to come through and the cheque finally cleared last week (early February 2012).

So a long wait for the various stages and further !!!!-ups along the way by Halifax but really the only bit of work required by me was to fill in the form and follow Martin's very easy step-by-step walk through, thank you so much.

And no claims company got their hands on £250-£300 (25% ish) of our cheque!
