Marmaladebramble wrote: »Hello all,
After submitting a complaint to MBNA regarding my credit card mid-January, I received a letter last week to say they were upholding and I received a cheque for £9,600 today.
I am still somewhat in shock! Once the cheque has cleared I will be paying off my two credit cards with £2,500 left over. needless to say I would like to say a huge thank you for all the support, help and encouragement from this forum, and wish everyone the best of luck with their claims

[I have recently put claims in for PPI , I have had a few loans over the years with Halifax . Every loan i had i always topped up & each one had PPI on. So after reading success stories on here i thought i would give it a go. The PPI was never needed as i would have been paid for 6 months full pay & 6 half pay. Each loan was done by phone PPI was never discussed. i will keep you informed when anything happens .I am new to this site so i hope i am on right forum.:money:0

Can I ask how long from sending the acceptance back has it taken to receiving the refund into your nominated account. Ive received my letter today and I'm curious as to how long I'll have to wait for the money0 -
I'm thinking of sending my bank a letter every six weeks or so stating that my loan with them is very important to me and that I fully intend to make a payment to them at some point in the future, and that whilst I will endeavour to work within the timeframes set out by the courts of the land I am a very busy person and so cannot be expected to meet deadlines.
Yeah, right, wonder how far that would get me...
The Lloyds debacle is a disgrace and, whilst it doesn't help those such as yourself awaiting money, there should be some penalty against them for it - they appear to be acting with impunity whilst other banks etc., at least appear to be making a reasonable effort now.
What is it with Lloyds TSB and not paying out on the PPI complaints to their customers like they promised! As per usual they still don't contact you to let you know what stage your complaint is at, but when you have gone overdrawn or owe them money, their letters are in the post to you quick enough!!
Still waiting in anticipation for my payment they owe me! Claim originally started back in October! I know some people's claims have started further back than mine and still no success.:mad:
It's not fair......come on Lloyds TSB pull your finger out or you won't have many customers left!
Sent yet another letter to the PPI customer relations dept but to Andrea Barry this time. if no response from her, who do I contact next? Somebody on here had previously mention and Ian Hallet who is the PPI director, anybody confirm this for me please?
Thanks in advance and good luck to all you hangers on like myself0 -
hey can you advise me i am in a repayment plan to pay off my debt with the bank i have had a letter from them saying that they are due to give me 9,300 in missold ppI but it says on the form that they can take off any arrears. Does this mean although i have entered into an agreement with them to have my interest stopped and pay what i can, (i am paying my debt off eventually) does this mean they can take this sum and put it to the money i owe them.0

Bank Lloyds Tsb/barlaycard
Claim type. Loans and credit cards
Total claims. 8 claims six upheld in my favour waiting on one old lloyds cc. and the usual "we need more to
E:(" from barlaycard!
Total upheld td. £39,000.00
Started claims in june2011 for my loansx4 only thought I could claim on one! Upheld in September then recalc in oct paid dec.
Claimed on a loan a joint loan nov upheld and paid in jan.
Platinum cc claim in same time as joint loan upheld today with offer!
- does anyone know if they should compound the interst on my cc redress as it seemed lower than I expected ! But have no paper work to back it up!
Still waiting on the Barclaycard but will happily goto fos with that one!
( will keep posted about the rest!!)
Thanks to everyone for the posts! And info !! It helped me on my way to a debt free life , first time since 1999!:rotfl::rotfl::A
Go for it if they have your money then get it back!!0 -
Get back to them and tell them you dispute the rejection of the claim on the grounds "you did not have ppi" as they have no paperwork for these loans, how do they know this? and you would like them to send you proof of "no ppi".
Hi ShirleyK, I totally agree with Amershall. I put in 2 claims on old loans dating back to 1990s and can quote from the letter I received from lloyds TSB a couple of months ago:
'Due to the passage of time, we no longer have any detailed records relating to your loan accounts. The absence of detailed records means that even if we were able to assume the amount and the term of the loan based, for example on your recollections, there is no guarantee our calculations would be accurate, as we have no way of knowing when the loan was settled or if any claims have been paid under the policy.
In a genuine attempt to resolve your complaint our offer of £1,200 (per loan) is equal to our average compensatory amount. We have agreed with the FOS that an average payment method in cases such as yours is fair and reasonable.'
Shortly after that they paid out £2,400.
I had also put in a claim for PPI refund on another account with Lloyds and they rejected that one, but on the grounds that they had contacted the insurer (Pinnacle) and could show that no PPI had in fact been applied. That claim dated back to 1999/2000, so it just goes to show, the insurer still has records even if Lloyds doesn't!
This looks like Lloyds yet again are treating customers in an arbitrary fashion. Keep pushing!! and good luck.0
