    MBNA FOS success

Have been fighting them for 12 months now, and got turned down so went to the FOS. Upheld by FOS just got the figures in the post and fell off my chair. I was thinking £6000 at the best opened the letter and it was £16105,83 WOW. Will make me debt free.
    Now waiting on Barclaycard.

    Thanks money

That's fantastic, well done...what was your reason for mis-sell?

What were you reclaiming: Various loans
Who was the provider: Halifax Bank of Scotland
How much did you get back: £2100ish

Filled out their online form, about a week after I sent it got a letter of acknowledgement, then the following week or so I got another letter saying we're paying you some money!

I was never really sure whether I had a claim or not but one person at work in particular convinced me I did and should give it a try. When filling in the form it became apparent why I had a claim (I was covered already should I lose my job or be signed off sick for a period of time). The money now will go to pay off some of my debts. YAY!

Today I also opened up my credit report (again) and noted down the details of any credit card I have had, tonight I will be making a few calls and seeing if I had PPI on anything else! :D

Pre ticked box mainly. MBNA did turn it down saying you tick the box and signed the form.

    FOS said differently.
  • I would just like to thank Martin and all the people who contribute to this website. We have had a substantial PPI refund repaid to us, and with this we have been able to pay off our biggest loan and can finally move forward with an extra £600 per month in our bank towards savings. This has literally changed our lives.

I thought I'd post on our (my husband and my) successes.

    Me:
    PPI refund
    NatWest Credit Card: £399
    Bank charges
    Natwest Credit Card: £380

    Total refund: £779

    Husband:
    PPI refund
    Barclays Loan: £11 000
    HSBC loan: £5 000
    First Plus Loan: £1 000
    Co-op Credit card: £390

    Total refund: £17 390

    Grand Total: £18 169

Congrats on to all that have had success. And GOOD LUCK to everyone else who is still in the process of applying.

Can I ask when you sent your claim off to the FOS and how quickly they dealt with it?

  • I have a debenhams store card since 1998. I was sold PPI over the telephone. I have not worked since 1989.I I wrote a letter to santander explaining to them that I could not claim under this policy as I was not working at the time the PPI was taken out and this was not explained to me at the time. I would not knowingly take out insurance which did not apply to me and would be void. They replied back and told me I had no claim but that PPI was a breadwinners policy and the benefits of cover would be transferred to my partner. They are now asking for evidence of unemployment and copies of national insurance contributions for both myself and my partner. They also inform me that this is their final response. As this PPI was sold me to and nothing to do with my partner I feel they are fobbing me off.

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

I said I would send it to the FOS and he said there would be no point due to the date fo the loan. I am not following his advice! I will write back as you suggest and take it to the FOS.
