I had a Egg card and they have been taken over by Barclay Card. Do I still send the complaint form off to the Egg address on their website or to Barclay Card?
If the card was settled before Barclays took over, you need to complain to Egg,they will not have sent your account over as this is cleared.
You send this to Barclays if the card is still running,if you have proof of ppi paid to Egg then send copies of these too.

    Hi all,

I am looking for some help. We had two loans with the woolwich, now barclays. We called barclays who gave us two ppi numbers with the dates 24th Aug 2001 and the 23rd Nov 2001. I know these dates are not correct as we did not take out two loans with in 3 months of each other!

I just called them and they said that they are refusing the loan account dated the 24th Aug 2001, reason being... It was before regulation was brought in on the 20th Nov 2001. That is why they are not paying out as he said the ppi could not have been missold as there was no regulation when we had the loan. Has anyone heard of this. He advised me that there would be no point in going to the financial ombudsmun as they would not uphold my complaint as it is pre regulation. Black and white case he said They are still looking at my other loan, as it is 3 days after the regulation was brought in.

I am gutted, they so missold us that ppi on both loans. My husband was self employed and they said they loan was a condition of the loan as he was self employed and the loans were front loaded. ie our loan for 7k they then added 2k ppi so we took out our loan for 9k!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :(

They are using this as an excuse, write back or phone, tell them FOS have said they can look at this loan as they were regulated with them before the date Barclays have said, tell them you reject the reason they cannot look at this and if they do not consider this loan you will pass this to FOS.

    Hi

Hope one of your experienced forum readers can advise me, am almost at wits end!!
Started ppi claim with nram back in August, had offer of refund etc 30th Dec, read through options and accepted offer, they had form in office around 10th Jan. had lots of phone calls with review team whom each time give me different info, currently they say loan in process of restructure and are waiting for refund to be authorised.........when am I likely to get refund, they already have bank details etc.

Am beginning to feel like I'm being given runaround....would appreciate any thoughts/advice!!!!!

Keep checking your bank,NRAM are usually very quick, but they now have a backlog, give them a little more time.

I said I would send it to the FOS and he said there would be no point due to the date fo the loan. I am not following his advice! I will write back as you suggest and take it to the FOS.

Have you ever heaard of this? The you weren't missold as there was not regulations at the time? lol How stupid does that sound!!

    Thanks for your reply ;)
  • I came on here three months ago for one purpose, to get some info on PPI. After following the advice to the letter RBS repaid me £5,5000 which is quite a bit more than the PPI cost me. Just thought I would come back and let you all know.

:money:Martin Lewis you deserve a knighthood!!! Just received £4,564.48 and been told I have another £678 on the way from 3 PPI's from HSBC, all it took was 1 letter. At one time we were paying more in PPI's than we were in actual payments and after my husband had a serious accident making him unable to work again, we eventually lost our home, despite having PPI in place but the 'Terms@ were unrealistic about disability. I have just lost my job now so I can't begin to tell you what this means to us. You Angel! :A

Can't vouch for 2003 but for August 2004 there were no tick boxes for PPI on their loan applications. If the loan application form was delivered by courier to your house (as in my case) the PPI was simply added upfront (which is frowned upon) The only tick boxes on the application was for the credit card that they included with the loan. I never asked for the credit card so never ticked any of the 4 tick boxes that you could choose from for different levels of cover, on said credit card.
There was a section on the loan application that stated you apply for "Credit care" and my name and DOB was filled in, in type, it was not left blank for me to sign or date. There was also another section that should have stated the PPI cost per month but this was left BLANK! So it made it look as though you were not paying anything for PPI. Very misleading in my opinion and you only had 15 minutes to read and sign it :(

Hi I am interested in this quote we two had loans with above companies and delivered by courier, how do you find out, think may have one aggrement but dont know where to start, of if they had ppi.

Also had many cc over the years egg mbna goldfish but the one sticks out is my halifax did and I remember cancelling this after it had been running for years, what you think my chances are. And of course were do I start.

    Thanks :)

    Nice, congrats on the result!

Has anyone else had texts from RBS? I've not had a peep by SMS, letter only.

thanks..i got a letter first saying they've received my quote. then a text saying same. 8 weeks later a letter with offer followed by text then today saying the payment has been sent. did you give your mobile number?

    cheers

They may take the 12 weeks or longer i am afraid, you may get the final response letter but if they are giving you redress, you may wait a long time to get this money.

Goodwill gestures can be for loan ppi where the bank have no details for this loan or they have limited info, there may also be other reasons for this, otherwise you either get full redress or a rejection.

Thanks for your reply Amersall. What happens if they exceed the 12 week period? Can I then go to FSA or do I have to wait on their response? I realise that, if successful, I will have to wait and wait and wait for my money.
