  • Hi Tony,

Essentially you have been rejected for the claim as you applied online and you opted for it. Their argument will be that this was a non-advised sale and therefore it was upto you whether you wanted to take the product.

In relation to your exisiting benefits (i.e sickpay) it depends on how much you had. You can say that you had full sickpay but in some companies that can mean lots of different things i.e at the NHS it is usually 6 months full and then 6 months half.

The fact that in the letter it says it is still active is probably just an error.

You're only option now is the FOS.

    Hope this helps.
  • Cheers Tommo

Guess it is worth a shot anyway.
  • On a separate note, my TSB claim was accepted on December 16th 2011 and the 8% interest was calculated up to January 12th 2012, yet i am still to receive my refund. Should i be due even more than the stated settlement figure when they eventually decide to pay out?

  • a huge thank you to everyone on this board. I have put in three claims one with hsbc, egg loan and barclays for mortgage ppi. I recieved a letter from Hsbc today and they looked into all my loans (even though they sent a letter saying i would have to send a letter for each loan, which i hadnt got round to doing) and they have upheld my claim and are giving me £6,260.15! Couldnt believe it was expecting £1000 at most. Anyone reading all these posts wondering if they should claim, do it. It has cost me 3 first class stamps and i have still got the other 2 companies to hear from.

Hi,they will pay you the 8% to the date you get the money, this will not be a huge amount,as this is monthly on the actual ppi payment you made, and decreases up to the date of redress,as you have been deprived of this for less time.

  • @ Tommo2012 and cheesetony
Ive had 3 claims upheld and only 1 has gone to the FOS for online credit cards, I did click the box but I thought the wording swayed me and I also said they should of picked up on my application when I put I worked for Royal Mail where I get full sick pay with other benefits nearly everyone knows this.
  • First time poster - thought I'd record a wee success!

    Virgin/MBNA credit card.

Sent the questionnaire off 3 weeks ago. Beginning of this week received a letter saying they were looking at my complaint and would be in contact within 28 days.

This morning received a letter detailing the following:-

Total amount of PPI premiums charged - 864.81
Total amount of interest associated with premiums - 431.59
    Total amount of 8% interest - 8.29

    Total amount payable - 1304.69

Again, echoing everyone else. Do it yourself!
