I had a Halifax credit card that I havent used for a very long time I phoned up about 3 weeks ago to look into PPI. They put me through to a dept who fills the paperwork in for you and today I am very happy to say I have £938.79 back whoo hooo! got the bit between my teeth now!! look out Capital One.................

I also logged a complaint with them on 5th January but I'm still waiting, can I ask what your mis sell reason was? Have they actually given you the money yet or just acknowledged that they intend to do so?
  • I told you early January that I had my claim with Alliance and Laicester upheld and received a cheque for over £2017.33. This was settled and paid within 4 weeks of sending my letter.
i have just received a cheque from Barclays for almost £500 for a loan taken out 10 years ago and settled 7 years ago. tjis took 6 weeks, one letter from start to finish.
I have just received a letter from Barclaycard offering settlement of £3733 for PPI on credit card. I have agreed to this, so total so far is over £6250.00!!
This cost me in total 3 first class stamps.
To anyone unsure whether to complain-go ahead and do it. You have nothing to lose.
I used all the forms from this website and it was really straightforward.
Good luck to anyone reading this-I am pleased I listened to the other people posting on the forum as it was their successes which prompted me to give it a go.
    Good Luck

My loan was with Egg. It was sold to Moorgate. Within a few months, I finally settled the loan. I thought... my chance had gone, but I contacted Egg and mentioned my "complaint". I had been pushily sold PPI in 2006 when I consolidated a previous loan and took out more. Didn't do the form or anything

Anyways, that total loan amount was over 10k
[edit] I just found the original original loan from 2003 which was a similar figure, so I must've consolidated the owed loan from 2003 in 2006 (what fools we were back then with credit!!!). D'oh! [/edit]

Two days ago out of the blue I get a letter saying my complaint had been upheld. A settlement letter would arrive forthwith.

    It did. Today.

    nearly 9k, including 2300 compensation at 8%.

    Jaw, meet floor.

However, some 800 of the settlement will be "credited to your loan because you still have an open account". a cheque for the remainder (around 8k) will arrive soon.

this is where I'm worried. What loan? I paid off the loan when it was sold to Moorgate, they told me the loan was closed in writing. where is this money going to go? This don't half smell fishy.

Any ideas what the heck they mean? Could it be a clever scam?!
  • had a letter from Lloyds tsb back in January saying that they pay out on loans going back to 1993 ,the letter said they have calculated the payment with 8% interest up to 2nd of Feb say they will be paying me by cheque but still no cheque arrived as of yet , is one else still waiting for payment

Seems 8% is the going compensation rate then. Well I'm due mine in the next week. Keep us posted.

I have a theory my 800 as mentioned above is going to be paid to moorgate whom, Egg tell me, will contact me with possible extra funds. Perhaps that's why Egg think I still have an account, after all, why would Moorgate tell them my loan was paid off.

Sorry, slight hijack of your post. Sounds like you're in for a nice sum back though.
  • I think they are just stalling. I sent a questionairre on Nov 18th and have heard absolutely diddly-squat! I've just emailed Bob Diamond (CEO) and told him to get his finger out!

Congratulations on the successes and good luck with the others :T
You only have to declare the 8% standard interest part of the payment, if you have that figure and if it was paid GROSS inform HMRC of the amount and they will tell you what you have to pay. If you did receive 8% interest I would imagine you would have enough in the £19 to pay it and have enough left for a curry :) But at least you owe Burtons nothing ;)

Great thanks for the info, unfortunately my idea of a decent curry costs a lot more than £19 lol. Just have to hope my other claims are upheld!!
