When I obtained the consolidation loan I was very keen to get it so I could pay off some reasonably chunky credit card debts.

I was never advised that the PPI was optional on the loan. I have been in full time employment since graduating from university 14 years ago. Unemployment where I am is less than 1%. I simply explained that if I had known the cover was optional I would never have agreed to take it.

Thanks for replying, I to took a consolidation loan out 6 years ago and the same applys to me...phonecall in the morning to HSBC
Congratulations on getting your money back

    Hi All

Just wanted to let you know I had success with mis sold PPI with Home Shopping Personal Finance (HSPF) of £502.00 from a loan of £1500.00 that I took out with them in 2008.

Thank you to this site for the template used, thankfully I did not have to use a claim management company.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting on theirs.

  • Martin,
Many thanks for prompting me to claim my credit card PPI back,
    I did`nt even realise I had it!!
I downloaded the template letters from your site, 2 first class stamps and a £1 fee later I got a cheque for £10,668! from Mint Credit Cards.
Anyone reading this that has`nt claimed yet, do it now, what have you got to lose?

    Again many thanks,
    Colin

  • I wasn't even sure if our "MortgageSure" was a PPI, but we thought it was worth a try, filled in the simple form we got from the LTSB site, sent it off to LTSB, heard nothing and forgot all about it, until we got a reply asking who they should send the cheque for over £10,500 to! And that was all there was to it! :T

The essence of the complaint was that MortgageSure didn't offer any further protection above what we already had in place. We didn't have to prove that, or argue our case, or anything. It was just accepted and 15 years worth of payments were returned, with a huge 8% interest!

Many thanks for your help with this. I don't think we would have bothered if you hadn't been going on and on about it!

    Hi
Not having a lot of luck with PPI claims. Have a claim with Barclaycard re CC which I sent in Nov 11. They sent me letter saying I would hear back by Jan 26th and another December updating me and still saying would hear back Jan. Received a letter middle of Jan saying that they had had no reply from Dec in which they had asked for a FOS questionnaire (had letter and looked and nothing to say they wanted questionnaire, which was enclosed with initial complaint letter). I duly sent off another copy of FOS questionnaire enc a copy of letter from Dec and have now received a letter to say that as they were waiting on further information (fos questionnaire) investigation into complaint couldn't be completed by original date and due to heavy volume of complaints they couldn't give me a date when investigation would be completed. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a stalling tactic?

I think they are just stalling. I sent a questionairre on Nov 18th and have heard absolutely diddly-squat! I've just emailed Bob Diamond (CEO) and told him to get his finger out!

    What were you reclaiming: Loan
Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester
How much did you get back: £2,804.54
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One telephone call to santander PPI Phone Line
And then write your brief reclaim tale
After requesting a SAR on my current account I obtained my old account number for 2 loans dating back to June 1999 and February 2003 which i knew were pre loaded with PPI , second loan was consolidating the first loan and other debts :-((( ,
One telephone call to the PPI claim line the first week of January spoke to a very helpful lady who advised that I would receive an acknowledgement within 2 weeks , to my amazement offer recieved today with a full breakdown of calculations , Excellent service from Santander and great to see a detailed breakdown of final amount due no fuss or hassle at all .Unlike Barclays who seem to like declining claims grrrrrrrrrrr, my claim is now with the FOS for Credit Card PPI on my closed Barclaycard .
Acknowledgement already in the post box , very happy , did not think I would be able to claim as they were such old loans .Hopefully funds will be paid in the next few weeks .Letter states payment with in 2 weeks .
If you are in any doubt claim yourself and you will reep the benefit, This site is marvelous and a credit to all those hard workers behind the scene's . Delighted delighted :rotfl:

    • You picked up an application form which was later completed
    • No advice could have been given to you
    • Details regarding the PPI were attached to the application form.
    • The full cost of the insurance was outlined, you could have queried before signing.
    • In the Payment Protection Section of the application form you have ticked the box to select PPI and you have read and understood the PPi section of the application.
    • By signing , you confirmed you were happy with the contents of the application and terms and conditions.
    • Policy documents were issued to you, these should have been consulted to ensure the cover was suitable.
    • The policy was charged for a number of years you could have contacted us at any time to query policy.
    • We wrote to you to make you aware of some changes to your PPI policy. You did not contact us at this time to question or cancel the policy.
