PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Well after my successful claim against Barclaycard I am just waiting on my First Direct Visa result from FSO
I suddenly thought didn't I have loans years ago with them
So quick message to them and 2 of the 3 loans had PPI
Asked for a refund and told leave it with us and we will get back to you
Not using a claims company for this one0 -
Hi Sxphil
Could you give us some details on your successful claim against Barclaycard please.
Did you get a result through FOS, did Barclays play delaying tactics?
Many thanks0 -
Good afternoon all.
After watching the adverts for PPI claim companies for months, wondering whether I was in a position to claim (but doing nothing about it!) I decided to do a little web research and came across the advice here.
So, at the end of November 2011 I wrote directly to HSBC telling them that I felt I had been mis-sold PPI on my consolidation loan taken out 5 years ago.
After a call to HSBC mid December to find out what progress there had been, they asked me to submit the details on the FSA form, which I did just before the end of December 2011.
Again, I received no acknowledgement of the submission of the paperwork, so mid-January 2012 I asked for a progress update and got a "we're still looking into it" letter from HSBC.
I went away Friday afternoon (27th January) and when I got back yesterday I found an offer letter in my letterbox from HSBC!
Just under £9,000 (including interest at 8%) cash payment plus the recalculation of the balance outstanding of the loan that will reduce monthly payments by 25%.
All in all .... I'm very happy indeed!
Thanks MSE for the advice!

How much did you get back: £4,668.55
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One phone call to the PPI Claim Line at LLoyds TSB
And then write your brief reclaim tale
My card was originally applied for in branch back in 2003 and as I was doing a balance transfer to clear an old card the clerk advised that I had to have PPI as It was part of the product , application duly completed and posted off , I closed my card off in 2010 and when I originally spoke to a branch member re claiming she rudly said "Well you did sign the forms and obviosuly ticked the box , not very helpfull to say the least " ,So I did not persue a claim until Novemner 2011 , I did not want to give up so decided to ring the claim line at LLoyds TSB and today I have received a letter confirming upheld and payment of £4,668.55 will be paid in due course ,:j
Am delighted so anyone out there don't give up and be fobbed off by frosty branch staff , My claim for Barclaycard Credit Card PPI was declined so if now with the FOS , who have now confirmed that some claims are taking up to a year to be resolved, but that is ok with me .
I would like to thank this site and all the user's who post am very happy to say the least :rotfl:xxxx

Hi can I ask what your reason for mis-sell was?0 -
Does anyone have the email address for Lloyds please,
Much appreciated.0 -
Afternoon one and all...
I've been reading the forum for a while now, first time poster for me...
I am currently at logger heads with Lloyds, despite having been made an offer a while ago I'm afraid that like many, many others here I am still awaiting payment.
I have done the call centre thing (did any of you know its open on Saturdays).. and have written to the CEO..etc..
I now would like to contact Andrea Barry, can anyone on here please send me the email address..
Many thanks in advance, and good luck to all those still awaiting, and thanks to those who have posted some excellent info.
regards

Hi can I ask what your reason for mis-sell was?
When I obtained the consolidation loan I was very keen to get it so I could pay off some reasonably chunky credit card debts.
I was never advised that the PPI was optional on the loan. I have been in full time employment since graduating from university 14 years ago. Unemployment where I am is less than 1%. I simply explained that if I had known the cover was optional I would never have agreed to take it.
