PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi
Looking for some advice. Put a claim into RBS re PPI for loan that I had paid off stating that I had been advised to take this out since I had taken my 1st loan with them in 1992. Today I received a letter with previous (5) loans taken out. They can tell me the loan account of each and every loan and the start date but are saying due to the passage of time they can't tell me if I had PPI or not. Loans are from 1992 - 1998.If I can give them any more information they will look again. Problem is I don't have paperwork from 1992 onwards. Is there anymore I can do with this?0 -
Another Success
After a letter stating I did not have ppi on a loan I had with lloyds I have received an offer of a refund of £2750 today.
that is offers of 10k from 3 out of 7 claims and along way to making me debt free for 2012 and the year of the Dragon.
I still have an outstanding claim with the FSCS due to the lender no longer trading. This had front loaded ppi and I am wondering how this will be calculated. I am led to believe I paid 8995 up front at a rate of 7.7%. I took this 5 years ago, is there an easy way to calculate what this refund is likely to be?
Also in claims for Credit Cards, how is the payments calculated. I stupidly have only made teh minimum payments so the ppi has then had the apr applied to it month on month.

Hi
I decided to try and reclaim old PPI after success with my mortgage exit fees last year thanks to MSE.
I had two old loan agreements with Dell and DFS which stated I had ppi so I sent off the FSA claim forms and copies of the agreements on 7 Jan. I have had no response to either.
I obtained copies of my Experian Report and sent off letters with requests for my agreements and cheque for £1 to MBNA, Argos, Egg and British Gas.
MBNA responded with a copy of the Agreement, it must have been submitted over their phone as there is an "X" where my signature is and the PPI box is unmarked so I am assuming there is nothing further to do on this?
With regard to Egg, they responded requesting updated address details which I provided. Today the wrote to say under Section 78(3) of the CSA under section 78(1) they don't have to provide me with a copy of the credit agreement. I looked on the forums and I am going to send a SAR letter in response to this.
I haven't received any response from the other companies.
Co-incidentally I received a letter from Northern Rock today asking if I wanted to claim on the loan I have with them. I actually had PPI on it and a couple of years ago I claimed and they re-jigged my payments and gave me a refund of the PPI I had paid. Can I claim again?
Sorry its a long post but I do appreciate your valuable advice.

What were you reclaiming: PPI on a secured loan
Who was the provider: Picture Financial
How much did you get back: £11,616
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent in the template form to my lender who inturn passed the details onto the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I took out a secured loan for £55k in 2005, as part of the package I was signed up for PPI at cost of £13,722, but the PPI cover only lasted for 5 years, not the full term of the loan, had I known that I would have never taken it out. Beacuase I had already received a 50% no claims rebate I thought that I couldn't make a claim. Having read up on PPI on your site I filled in the formas and gave it a bash. I feel such a mug as I should have claimed years ago. Your site made the whole process so easy. I just downloaded the templates and sent the information off to my lender. About four weeks later I had a cheque sent to my loan provider and I have knocked over £11,600 quid of my outstanding loan balance at a single blow. This means I will be able to clear my debts much faster and get back onto an even keel much faster. To anybody still thinking about making a claim I would say go for it, you only have a bit of time and a stamp to loose, but everything to gain. Good Luck!0 -
Just had a claim settled by FSCS.
They take the original premium
Add on the interest you have paid on the premium
Less any benefits received (no claims bonuses)
Less any rebate or cancellation
Plus a reasonable rate of return
That gives you the compensation figure.
They pay 100% of the first £2,000 and then 90% thereafter.
Hope this helps0 -
Hi All, Is there a email address for RBS please? Not heard anything off them in months and would like to try this avenue?

Hi
Not having a lot of luck with PPI claims. Have a claim with Barclaycard re CC which I sent in Nov 11. They sent me letter saying I would hear back by Jan 26th and another December updating me and still saying would hear back Jan. Received a letter middle of Jan saying that they had had no reply from Dec in which they had asked for a FOS questionnaire (had letter and looked and nothing to say they wanted questionnaire, which was enclosed with initial complaint letter). I duly sent off another copy of FOS questionnaire enc a copy of letter from Dec and have now received a letter to say that as they were waiting on further information (fos questionnaire) investigation into complaint couldn't be completed by original date and due to heavy volume of complaints they couldn't give me a date when investigation would be completed. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a stalling tactic?0 -

Not an expert in these things but I had Cahoot loan and cancelled PPI a couple of years ago (it's still running). I sent FOS questionnaire along with a cover letter to Santander saying why I felt I was missold. Sent it recorded delivery 1 day got a phone call saying it was upheld the next day and had received my money within a month. It's worth a try. Good Luck0 -
I wrote to Halifax on 26 November 2011 enclosing a cheque for £2 and requesting a copy of the terms and conditions that were applicable to the agreement on for the loan I took out on 17 February 1999. I then sent a reminder on 9 January enclosing a copy of the original letter, . The cheque was cashed before end November. However I am still waiting for a reply to either letter.:(
My next step will be to send a recorded delivery letter giving them 2 weeks to respond before I contact the Ombudsman. Does that seem like a good plan?

You need to do a SAR
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
Enclose a cheque for £10 and give them 40days to respond.
Do you have the account number for this loan?,if you do then contact Halifax and put a claim in for mis sell with the reasons you think you were mis sold.
http://www.halifax.co.uk/contactus/howtocomplain/complain-about-ppi/
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2
Then put a complaint in about the request you made twice and tell them you are unhappy with this,as you had no acknowledgement from either of those requests.0
