hi..managed to get a account details for a barclays loan (from a helpful bank worker)that i took out 5 years ago. i took it out through my barclaycard.any idea who i should request a SAR from?..would it be the main Barclays band or Barclaycard?..thanks in advance..0

Amersall, after writing to barclays, and reminding them they were a
member of the banking of the ombudsman in 1992,so there excuse
that they could not look back before 2001 as they were a member of the GISC,and i believe this was just a FOB OFF,i have still not had
a final response from them, i wonder why this is??
regards mark.
Remind me when you sent this to them.0 -

Bluevan12,
I too had a letter from Barclays telling me they couldn't find any details of ppi due to not being members of the GISC, I was going to just leave it until I saw your posts...and the reply from Amersall, I have written to them again, with a copy of the original agreement, clearly showing how much ppi they had added onto the loan, and quoted what you had said about being a member of the banking of the ombudsman in 1992...
I havent heard from them yet either, but just wanted to thank you for your post as I would have just given up without a fight if I hadnt read your posts....will post on here if i get a response...thanks again
Dont let this drop!!!.
Another poster confirmed with FOS that this is a fob off, when i find the post i will copy it here.0 -
Amersall
I rang the ombudsman regarding the GISC,and you are right they
also said that i should write to them and remind them that they
were a Member of the financial banking of the ombudsman, right
back to 1992 and before,by reminding them about this it just
might make them re-think their reply,he said if and when i get
a final response he would be very happy to take this on as ive been
tackling them since August 2011,,if anyone else has an excuse about
barclays becoming a member of the GISC,and cant look at claims before this date,i say ignore it ,,its a FOB OFF..I have written them
a letter and will wait for my last response, and let you guys know
ASAP,
regards mark....
It was bluevan12 (mark) this is re Barclays fob off saying they were not members of GISC and you could not go to FOS with your complaint,it is tosh!!!.xx thanks for this Mark.0 -
I never thought I would be saying this so soon, but Lloyds TSB have paid out!!!
I had to resubmit my original claim documents on 18th November, after Lloyds TSB informed me that they "had no record of receiving your claim forms" 4 months previous. That was obviously a big fat lie, given the speed at which my second attempt to claim has been processed! So here it is:- Claim forms resubmitted (by email) 18/11/11
- Acknowledgment email 1 week later
- Letter from Lloyds with "Final Offer" received 18/01/12 (full repayment of PPI, Excess Loan Amount, Interest on excess PLUS 8% on everything)
- Payment of final amount into current account 25/01/12
I have to say, I do feel somewhat guilty when reading how long others have had to wait so I only hope your claims get processed ASAP.
Right now though, I'm off to make a celebratory cup of tea!
:j:j
Thats fab news!! Congratulations!:j
I am too awaiting the payments into my account from LLoyds. My claims originally started in September and i had 3 letters in the last week saying they were going to get my payment sorted as soon as possible into my current account......so here's hoping!!
Fingers crossed it should be any day soon!:);)0 -
I finally have a success story reclaiming PPI on my loan from Halifax which was for £10000 back in 2005 and had nearly £3000 of PPI loan added. I contacted them way back when the whole miselling thing first started as they had told me I couldn't have the loan without the PPI and my claim was declined. After visiting this site I found out I really shouldn't take no for an answer and got back in touch with them but by that time the period for taking it to the financial ombudsman had passed and they refused to look into it any further so I gave up hope.
The loan has been part of a debt management plan and I finally got to the point where the balance was nearly just the PPI and insurance. I though about paying everything else and disputing this part of the debt letting them take me to court over it. But before I did that I thought I'll just give it one more try and used the forms from this site. I just got a letter from them saying:
They'll refund the premiums paid so far and interest the interest on the PPI laon and add 8% interest
They'll refund the PPI from the previous loan that was refinanced by this loan (PPI I didnt even know I had) with the interest and *% interest and a payment because the second loan would have been higher because of the PPI
So in total £3619.99
AND that they would remove the remaining PPI on the loan reducing the balance to 3609.28 which means once I get the cheque I can pay off the loan in full giving me back £200 a month I have been paying
AND they basically apologised for turning down my claim without proper investigation the first time which feels like the biggest victory right now."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger
Proud to be have dealt with my debtDebt Free Sept 2012
