PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

After reading this forum for ages, I finally got around to complaining. I wrote to Halifax about 6 loans at the end of November. All these loans had been paid off, mostly by refinancing the previous loan. I only managed to get the paperwork for one of the loans from Halifax showing that I had PPI. Halifax advised me that they didn't have the paperwork for the other five loans. I knew that I had PPI on these loans though and complained. Anyway, I received a letter at the end of December (while I was on holiday) saying that they were going to pay out on the one loan but I "did not appear to have PPI on the other five loans". I don't know how they could tell me this when I was advised by Halifax that they had no paperwork. I was able to provide them with a list of loan numbers and start/end dates. Anyway, I have written back to Halifax and will go to the Ombudsman if I have to. I know that on each occasion I was forced to take out PPI otherwise I would not get the loan. Also, the loan that they are paying out on had PPI and that was to pay off a previous loan. Why would it just be on one of the loans? Basically they are at it and I won't be letting them away with it. I will take it as far as I can.
I am also waiting to hear about TMP and a secured loan with the Halifax. I am also waiting to hear about a number of loans from Lloyds TSB. All of these loans have been paid off but again like the Halifax loans, one loan refinanced another. I had paperwork for three of the Lloyds TSB loans showing PPI. The other three loans were taken out in the 1990s and all I had was the start/end dates and the Product Account Number. I have sent details to Lloyds TSB several times. I sent in the complaints at the end of November. I received 2 acknowledgement letters (one of them for loans that I did not complain about and where I did not take PPI). I have had to chase them three times about the loans from the 1990s despite sending proof. Finally I got an acknowledgement letter for these last weeks. Needless to say I have not had any offers from Lloyds TSB. They really are terrible and I feel sorry for all those people who have been waiting months to get paid out. Obviously they only have two speeds: dead slow and stop. Good luck to all those folks who are waiting on payments and/or decision.0 -
After being successful in Dec last year on a loan, the only other challenge I had was with a credit card that I have had for 20 years plus. Started out as Alliance & Leicester and was taken on by MBNA.
Had varying amounts outstanding on it over the years, nothing major until nearly 4 years ago when moving house. Noticed I was paying £30 per month PPI that I never asked for or required (adequately covered)
Put in complaint 22/12/11 asking for the PPI to be removed immediately and a refund of what I had paid previous. Was expecting a hard time but to my total surprised received a cheque in the post today for £3687.45 :j:j:beer::beer::j:j
Letter accompanying it states "please find a cheque enclosed as promised" this is why I am surprised as I never received an uphold letter or any calculations, the first thing I knew something was happening was the fact that the PPI was removed from Decembers statement
Thanks to Martin :money: and all my friends on the MSE Forum, your help and advice has been invaluable.

I have tried Santander who now are the bank for Debenhams.
At the time it was Capital Bank.
When I took out the storecard the form was crossed in 2 places and I was told by Debenhams assistant that I had to sign in both places or I would not get the card. I was very silly in that I didn't query this!!!
I have been to Ombudsman and FLA with no luck as I have no proof of this misselling.
Are there others out there who had a similar experience??0 -

Hi was your wife's egg credit card a ppi claim and if so can you tell me what the mis sell reason was and how long the claim took to process
It was for Payment protection on credit card. Letter sent 29th November 2011. Letter received 19/12/2011 to say claim has been upheld along with cheque for £419.00
Reason for claim.
This is a copy of all I said in her letter.
1. Full pay for the first six months of sickness.
2. Half pay for months six to twelve.
3. Death benefit. A lump sum if I died during this employment.
4. A no compulsory redundancy policy.0 -
