I wasn't even sure if our "MortgageSure" was a PPI, but we thought it was worth a try, filled in the simple form we got from the LTSB site, sent it off to LTSB, heard nothing and forgot all about it, until we got a reply asking who they should send the cheque for over £10,500 to! And that was all there was to it! :T
The essence of the complaint was that MortgageSure didn't offer any further protection above what we already had in place. We didn't have to prove that, or argue our case, or anything. It was just accepted and 15 years worth of payments were returned, with a huge 8% interest!
Many thanks for your help with this. I don't think we would have bothered if you hadn't been going on and on about it!
well done but thought it was not possible to claim gonna ring in morning0 -
I phoned HSBC today regarding an old loan I had 6 years ago which had ppi on it. The customer service person couldn't give me loan account number but then suddenly without prompting said but here are the ppi policy numbers which you've had on your last 3 loans! Just quote them on a form and the team will do everything else....I'm suspicious...why was she sooo helpful??0

I wouldn't be too suspicious, they know they can't hide and they are also meant to be informing customers that they may have grounds for complaint, even if they haven't submitted one yet. I guess they won't be doing this though until they get on top of the huge backlogSuccesses

Following successes with Virgin and Nationwide I have had a third with my Burtons storecard... a whopping £120.00!! Still, my total claims are now heading towards £11.5k and I have three more pending. Just a quick question. With Burtons they used the money to clear off an outstanding balance, how do I declare this to the tax office as I only actually received a cheque for £19.00? being the difference?
Thanks0 -

Congratulations on the successes and good luck with the others :T
You only have to declare the 8% standard interest part of the payment, if you have that figure and if it was paid GROSS inform HMRC of the amount and they will tell you what you have to pay. If you did receive 8% interest I would imagine you would have enough in the £19 to pay it and have enough left for a curryBut at least you owe Burtons nothing

It will show as a separate payment.0 -
Not sure if this is the correct forum. By I had my car on fiat finance with payment insurance. I have just had a letter to say it is now changing to credit protection insurance. So I have looked at the original paperwork and think that the insurance might be front loaded because it states the amount of credit for the insurance and the amount payable below and its an extra £500 does this mean this is interest on the insurance and do I have a possible claim?0
