PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

My dad had success with lloyds, after an initial phone call they've upheld his complaint and has received a full offer, refund just shy of £9000. This complaint was made 10 weeks ago over the phone. No letters were sent.
The acceptance letter will be sent today.. Will update on time it takes for payment.. He know he may be waiting a while.
The reasons for miss sell were- self employed, lead to believe it was mandatory to get the loan.
Now he's waiting on- Natwest who have 4 weeks left, and a few others that are with FOS including a store card from 1991!Living in our forever house!

I find this disturbing!0 -
Claim went to FOS in February 2011 having been put on hold for JR by Opus. Card was a Citi card and closed account before Opus took them over. Nothing heard until September when I received a letter saying Bank of Scotland (Citi) had agreed to settle and that I would receive figures and reimbursement by beginning of December. Now it appears no-one wants to take responsibility and pay out. I gather I am not the only one!
I have jsut been told the exact same thing, was told claim would be settled by citi before 13 jan, heard nothing, now told citi say opus should be paying out?0 -
- What were you reclaiming: personal loan (s)
- Who was the provider: Tesco
- How much did you get back: £7903
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 3 letters
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
THANKS to the moneysavingexpert website!! :Tlaurmurph0 -
Am i some kind of fool?
I cannot find the template for PPI reclaim.
Can someone point me in right direction..

Well, after they "lost" my first set of claim documents, posted early June, I eventually emailed Lloyds TSB to find out what was going on. Amazingly, I received an email response a week later, asking me to send digital copies of all my claim forms/FOS questionnaires and someone would look into the case straight away.
That was on 18th November. I fully expected, because my new claim would then run over the festive period, that I would not hear anything for months and months let alone receive an offer on what I thought was a weak case.
Well, you can imagine my relief and joy at lunchtime today when I popped home and found a letter waiting for me from Lloyds TSB. Less than 9 weeks after my (second) claim attempt I have been offered what I believe to be full repayment of PPI.
Stretching back over four loans, to 2004, they have calculated what PPI was paid + 8% interest on each amount AND excess loan premium + interest (calculated on 3 of the 4 loans) that I took out each time I "reworked" an existing loan.
Grand total......drum roll please.....£2900!! :j:beer::money:
I am over the moon! I honestly thought I wouldn't receive anything, but, thanks to this brilliant site and the people on it, I've had the best financial start to my new year.
Thank you everyone I may have spoken to. To those still thinking about claiming, or waiting to hear from your bank, GOOD LUCK!

Just had a call from FOS, they've rejected my claim against Capital One. They've had nothing from Capital One to suggest I checked an opt-in box but think I would have taken it given my circumstances at the time (thinking back on this I find it more than a bit condescending)...
I've got 2 weeks to appeal.
Any advice? Anyone else had success against them with an online application?
I guess I have nothing to lose by appealing but from reading through posts I doubt I'll have much luck.0 -
Hi everyone,
just wanted to post a success with GE Money. After we received a final response letter early November, which said our complaint had not been upheld, i received advice on this forum from cappo, amersall and many others, which led me to writing back to GE asking them to look at our complaint again. We didn't hear anything from them so spoke to FOS who took initial details from us and asked us to send them any correspondance (this was over Christmas). I had an envelope ready to post last week, when we recieved a telephone call in relation to our response to their final response. I spoke to a really nice man who explained that they would be looking into our complaint again following us writing to them again. He explained that our case was going to be looked at, at a review meeting last thursday. I spoke to the gentleman again yesterday who has informed me that our complaint has now been upheld and we will be receiving a calculations letter by the end of the week.
Thank you again for all your help. I knew we had been mis-sold but without your help i don't think i could have expressed this to them properly. What a great start to the year. thank you once again.
If anyone can advise how i can make a donation to this site it would be much appreciated. xx0 -

Did your claim go to the FOS?
The FOS said I would definitely get it settled as the offer was made to them and I accepted it. Having made numerous phone calls after it wasn't settled by the beginning of December, FOS have contacted BOS and Lloyds. They now say they are trying to find out who is going to pay. Been told to contact them mid February if I haven't heard anything. What I find difficult to understand is that someone must have made the offer to the FOS!
You begin to wonder if it will ever get settled.0 -
I just wanted to thank both Martin Lewis and the people who have written on this forum. After thinking about making a claim for a little while about two loans we had with the Alliance and Leicester starting in 2007 and the miss selling of the PPI. After reading the success stories I came across a link on the internet from Santander advising customers of Alliance and Leicester about the misselling of PPI's.
So I telephoned Santander on Monday afternoon and I am surprised to say I had an offer this morning for over £1500. Not as big as some people on here but still better in my pocket than theirs :j We could definitely do with it at the moment. So many thanks, once again :beer:0 -

hi, yes its been through the FOS since mid 2010, i accepted their offer to settle , got a letter on 25th of oct saying citi were going to settle and give it 10 weeks, left it 11 weeks and nothing, ran the FOS and got told to give them another two weeks whilst they chased them up, then got email today saying that they did not know who was going to settle the claim, the same as you, they have told me to ring back in 2 weeks if havent heard anything.
i wont hold my breath.0
