  • Well done!
I too sent speculative letters in 29 Dec 2011 re ppi on three credit cards, all letters acknowledged earlier this week, and a letter from on today saying complaint upheld and a cheque is on the way for just over £1500 !! was worth the cost of postage. Its taken just over 2 weeks so far, hears hoping the cheque arrives.
Just waiting to hear on the other 2 now, fingers crossed.:j

    Good luck to all:beer:

  • Hi there! I'm a newbie and this is my first post :-)

I helped my fiance successfully reclaim his PPI (he's too lazy to do it)!
    • What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    • Who was the provider: LLoyds tsb
    • How much did you get back: £3,870 something
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After a letter
My fiance took out a new loan about 3/4 years ago for about £15,000. When he took it out, I was with him and they advised him that he would need to take out PPI as part of the loan conditions. He thought nothing more of it, accepted it and continued to pay insurance on his loan. About 1 1/2 to 2 years into his loan, he phoned them to try to cancel but they said they would have to calculate a completely new loan and he would lose his great interest rate and persuaded him that it was in his best interest to leave the loan set as it was. When we heard about the mis-selling of PPI, I followed LLoyds own proceedure to complain about how they mis-sold and then refused to cancel his insurance. After a few weeks, they wrote to us to confirm they were investigating and about 15 weeks later, they wrote again and offered just over £3870. Now he's paying less each month too! Woop!
My resolution for 2012- Sort out my finances
Step 1- Pay off catalogue £591 Paid:rotfl:Step2-pay off Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1788[/STRIKE]/£1703

Just looking for some advice about Santander/Cahoot. I had a loan with Cahoot from mid 2003 to mid 2006. I wasn't aware of having PPI but it seems pretty likely.

I managed to dig out an old bank statement from 2006 which had an account reference number, I called Cahoot who referred me to Santander - I called them and was told I would have to write in as it was archived.
So I wrote to them in November and didn't get a reply - then I chased them up last week.

Today I had a letter from them saying they have no record of the account and I didn't give enough information to locate it - and they have no obligation to hold any information after 6 years. So basically go away.
But I did provide an account number and it was within 6 years. I checked my credit rating and the loan is there - and does say the account wasn't closed until 2009.

So I will write again - but just wondering if there was any advice or template for this? Something nice and legal sounding!

    Thanks for any help

    Do a SAR,dont forget to enclose £10.
They are not obliged to send you a copy of the agreement if the loan/cc is closed.

On 22nd December I decided to send in a calim for PPI on a couple of my credit cards - It was really no more than a speculative punt - I really didn't expect to get anything back - especially as I only had a recent statement and none of the documents ! I used the banks' own advice, namely not involving claims companies and just filling in the FOS form and sending it to them.

I was pleased to receive a letter from MBNA on the 29th December saying that they would be investigating, and delighted that on the 5th January received another letter saying that the claim had been upheld, and that they would be sending me a cheque for £13,586.05 within 28 days !! Today I have received, and banked said cheque !! I am stunned that (a), despite only paying £3860 of premiums, the repayment was so high, (b), that the figure clears my entire balance - and leaves me with £5000 over and (c), that the whole process was completed within 3 weeks !! Although its seems oxymoronic to say so, Thank you MBNA !

I have also sent in requests to Halifax and LloydsTSB, but haven't heard a peep from them yet sadly !

All I can say is that it is worth doing - you really don't need a claims company - I didn't have the agreement, statement history or even the date when the policy was taken out - yet MBNA exceeded my wildest expectations !

I'm looking forward to hearing from Lloyds Banking Group regarding the Halifax and Lloydstsb cards - and also have had a couple of loans in the past which may warrent a bit of further investigation !

Just do it - there really is nothing to lose !

    Good Luck

    Will

Well done, can I ask what your reason for claiming back was

Looking for some help please, just had a refusal from m and s due to the time that has elapsed, I had 2 loans and a charge card and I have the account numbers for both. They have said they are unable to locate the relevant application forms. Can I do a sar?

They are not obliged to give you copies of loan agreements if they are paid off,you would do better with a SAR,dont for get to enclose £10.
Do you know you had ppi on them?,if you did you can look here for reasons for mis sell

If any/all apply to you then put a claim in

:j:mad:HI,iam looking for some advice as i have had to successful claims from MBNA,my credit card
was dealt with very quickly and claimed a sum of around £2800,and iam now waiting for a
loan i had with them for £7500 over a 5 year period, was told i would get a figure by the 14th
of jan,,My problem is i had a loan with the woolwich/barclays way back in 1996 which i kept topping up right up until 2006,
so i was still paying it off in 2006,i have all my statements to prove this, and have given them
all these details, but they have upheld this again saying that the length of time since i commenced
my insurance cover was before barclays became a member of GISC on 20nov 2001,they have been
unable to retrieve any details of PPI charges to my account

I have rung the Ombudsman and they say unless they say something about 6 weeks to reply the case
is still open , even though the bank is saying its upheld?.

I thought if i had been paying this loan off in 2006,there would be a paper trail for them to follow
i have had two smaller loans with credit agrements which i sent a copy to them, which states, the
PPi and still they cant acknowledge it,has any one else had any problems like this,i started these
    complaints in August 2011..

    regards...mark.
  • hi could someone please explain what a SAR is and how i go about it think i need to do this with m and s as they have turned my claim for ppi on 2 loans down but i defo had ppi on them

  • Got a letter today from BOS re: Sainsbury's CC to say my claim is not been upheld as I didn't have PPI on it. Oh well it was just a punt I'd taken as I claimed back successfully on my Sainsbury's loan and was issued with a CC at the same time I took out the loan so thought it could have been possible I had PPI on that too.
Full response in just 7 weeks too. They have been very good BOS.

Never mind onwards just waiting on Lloyds mortgage protection and Lloyds loan but I guess i'll be waiting the full 12 weeks for their response.
Successfully claimed back total of £2802 PPI
