Hi,

Just thought I'd let everyone know that even if you get a reject letter if it doesn't say that it is their final decision I'd follow it up because this happened to me with Nationwide. My original claim was rejected with loads of reasons as to why on a 3 page letter, however they were all rubbish excuses and I had a reply for each one of them, so fired off another letter basically stating I rejected their rejection with my reasons, once again, and also stating I'd go to the FOS - guess what - letter arrived yesterday saying that after another investigation they were upholding my complaint its only for about £300 but a win is a win, so even if they do reject you at first it's well woth going back to them.

I've also had wins from MBNA (sent form off with no cc number on it as I no longer have this card) - won and I'm getting £2000 off them.

I've also had a win off a Halifax CC (£2,100) and Lloyds TSB CC (£4,600), I didn;t even think I'd taken out the PPI with these so really didn't expect anything back - so even if you don't think you took it out it's worth putting a claim in because you never know.

I've also won a claim with Firstplus which was all settled before Xmas (£8,500) and also with Northern Rock (£3,000).

I've got an outstanding claim with Lloyds TSB for a loan and littlewoods catalogue - still waiting to hear off them.

I just thought I'd share this with you because I applied for mis sold PPI not thinking I would ever get anything back, but I did, even if you do get a reject letter it's worth following up and also if you don't have the ref numbers it's worth a try, although I think it does depend on the bank/company your dealing with as to whether they'll process it or not without the ref number.

Hi Ginger64,

I've had a rejection letter from Nationwide last week for PPI on a mortgage I had 12 years ago.

Like you, it was a 3 page letter fobbing me off.

Was your PPI for a mortgage? How long did you have to wait to hear back from them once you sent off your second letter?

Thanks x

It was a secured loan I had with them and apparently it only ran for 6 months because I paid it off, and I waited about 4 weeks before they got back to me from my second letter, I actually sent the second letter via post but heard nothing for about two weeks, so found the e-mail address on their intranet site for the CEO and I e-mailed my letter across to him - two weeks after this i had my response upholding my complaint. Give it a try and good luck
• I have just had a letter from MBNA, my complaint has been upheld. They will be refunding my PPI plus interest within the next 28 days.

thanks, Have you had your MBNA cheque yet?
• Just wanted to post my success story on here:

1st Success:
I sent the FOS questionnaire to Halifax on 9th Dec regarding mis-sold PPI on a loan.
Loan dated back to 2007 and only ran for 5 months as I paid it back early.
Received a settlement letter on 22nd Dec for £856 - couldn't believe how quick the claim was processed or the amount that I received.

2nd success
E-Mailed Santander on 4th Jan regarding PPI on a old mortgage I had with them which ran over 5 years, received a letter on Tuesday this week regarding settlement for £2,219 - fantastic news, can't believ it!

Anyone out there not sure about claiming, just do it! You have nothing to loose and potentially lots to gain - Good Luck All!
• Just looking for some advice about Santander/Cahoot. I had a loan with Cahoot from mid 2003 to mid 2006. I wasn't aware of having PPI but it seems pretty likely.

I managed to dig out an old bank statement from 2006 which had an account reference number, I called Cahoot who referred me to Santander - I called them and was told I would have to write in as it was archived.
So I wrote to them in November and didn't get a reply - then I chased them up last week.

Today I had a letter from them saying they have no record of the account and I didn't give enough information to locate it - and they have no obligation to hold any information after 6 years. So basically go away.
But I did provide an account number and it was within 6 years. I checked my credit rating and the loan is there - and does say the account wasn't closed until 2009.

So I will write again - but just wondering if there was any advice or template for this? Something nice and legal sounding!

Thanks for any help
