Does any one know if you are in arrears with your repayments does it mean you have no chance of getting your PPI back?

Not at all, you have every right to complain. But whatever you do DO IT YOURSELF. The reason being if you are successful, part or all of the redress could go towards clearing the arrears. If you employ the use of a Claims Company (which no one on this site would suggest you do) you could end up not seeing any of the redress (due to it being used to pay off said arrears) but could end up owing the Claims Company their fee that is usually 20% or more. So you could end up out of pocket.
By all means complain, it is your rightSuccesses

Hi everyone on here,
Thank you for letting me observe your successes and failures over the last few months. I finally have something to sing and dance about. Yesterday I received payment for PPI I took out with a co-operative loan online in 2005. My enquiries began with a letter downloaded off this site on the 1st November, letter of redress received 21st December saying payment would be made within 20 working days. Payment was actually made into my current account within 12 working days (Christmas Hols considered.) :j The co-operative bank seem to have their system sorted and was no hassle to deal with. I am now awaiting responses from Egg (Barclaycard), MBNA, HSBC & RBS. All letters were sent on the same day so it just goes to show the differences in levels of service. Will keep everyone posted with progress through the journey.0 -

What were you reclaiming: loan ppi
Who was the provider: lloyds tsb
How much did you get back: offer letter £8300
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: still waiting after offer letter on 9th dec 2011, letter stated would have it in 21 days, still waiting
Called lloyds after the 21 days expired, only to be told nowhere on the letter does it say we will be paid in 21 days? everyone seems to think thats what the letter means, but lloyds who sent it say thats not what it says, idiots!!! so then the guy on the phone told me we should be grateful we are getting the money back!!! why should we be grateful for something the bank miss-sold us, the rile me everytime i ring them, they are just a bunch of liars they really are, anyway i have now decided not to run up my phone bill just to be told a pack of lies, so will just sit and wait, as soon as money is paid we will be switching banks, i think its disgusting how they are treating us.
GOOD LUCK TO OTHERS IN THE SAME BOAT!!!!0 -
I was convinced I had NO PPI on anything. It was only when I checked my Bank of Scotland credit card statement on the day before New Years Eve I spotted repayment protection. I called as soon as the offices opened after the jollidays and today (less then 2 weeks later) I received a cheque for £1938 :j
I seriously thought it might be a couple of hundred pounds because the most recent PPI has been a couple of quid a month but they have taken it back to 2003 (I believe). I just made ONE call, didn't have to complete any paperwork and I am SO happy :j
What a brilliant start to the new year :heartsmil:heartsmil0 -
On 22nd December I decided to send in a calim for PPI on a couple of my credit cards - It was really no more than a speculative punt - I really didn't expect to get anything back - especially as I only had a recent statement and none of the documents ! I used the banks' own advice, namely not involving claims companies and just filling in the FOS form and sending it to them.
I was pleased to receive a letter from MBNA on the 29th December saying that they would be investigating, and delighted that on the 5th January received another letter saying that the claim had been upheld, and that they would be sending me a cheque for £13,586.05 within 28 days !! Today I have received, and banked said cheque !! I am stunned that (a), despite only paying £3860 of premiums, the repayment was so high, (b), that the figure clears my entire balance - and leaves me with £5000 over and (c), that the whole process was completed within 3 weeks !! Although its seems oxymoronic to say so, Thank you MBNA !
I have also sent in requests to Halifax and LloydsTSB, but haven't heard a peep from them yet sadly !
All I can say is that it is worth doing - you really don't need a claims company - I didn't have the agreement, statement history or even the date when the policy was taken out - yet MBNA exceeded my wildest expectations !
I'm looking forward to hearing from Lloyds Banking Group regarding the Halifax and Lloydstsb cards - and also have had a couple of loans in the past which may warrent a bit of further investigation !
Just do it - there really is nothing to lose !
Good Luck
