PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi Dorsetgirl
I don't have my paperwork, I know that I paid my PPI in with my monthly payments - Guess I'll just have to wait.0 -
If only I had read this website before hand it would have saved me £25K
My Story
I have had a Visa and Mastercard Barclaycard for many years with fair balances on them
I used one for business expenses and one for private
I never really noticed the PPI until I saw an add and thought nothing ventured ....
18 months after I received offers of £27k and £55k .....WOW!!!
I then got a bill for 25% + VAT from the claims company totalling £25k to be fair the claims company made the fees very clear I was just lazy
Still a substantial amount but it could have been so much more
I have another claim which I have done using this sites forms and await to hear from the FOS in due course
Blimey that is a lot back, what sort of balances were on the cards to get that PPI refunded back?0 -
Sent off my paperwork today to Natwest - nothing ventured, nothing gained. But................
I first took out the Natwest loan in 1999 - PPI was taken out with the loan because that was how it was sold, you get a loan, you take the PPI. 6 months later i was made redundant and never claimed on the PPI, because i didn't realise that i could. I scraped the money together for a few months while i was out of work, to ensure i didn't miss the monthly loan payments. It's only been recently that i realised i could have potentially claimed on the PPI and that that was what it was there for! (well, one of the reasons it was there). Argh!!!!
My loan has been re-calculated every few years since then at an account review in the local branch - each time, a credit card balance was added to it and PPI just went hand in hand and was never given as optional.
I put all the details dating back to the original PPI sold in 1999 into my form to Natwest, but i don't know if i can claim back that far, or just to 2008?
The reason i say 2008, is because at another 'review', i questioned the PPI because i couldn't afford that on top of the loan amount. I left with the paperwork signed but then phoned up to cancel - it was a battle to cancel over the phone and i was made to feel pretty irresponsible for not having the PPI. I just couldn't afford it.
I explained all this in the form but if they do uphold my complaint, will they go back 6 years or is there a chance that they may go back to the original 1999 mis-selling? I can prove i was redundant and prove i didn't claim on the PPI which any person who understood what it was for, surely would have.
Well done to those who have got their mis-sold PPI back0 -

I owed about £8k0 -
After reading a few of the success stories I decided to look into my own loans . In 2004. We took out a loan with Santander(was abbey then ) and paid it off . We then got another for 7500 , and then a year later updated it to 8600 . All of which we paid ppi , after 2 years into the last loan I was told I could cancel the ppi on my loan to lower my payments which were nearly 300 a month in total . So after writing to the bank I had my payments reduced to 269 a month, I did nt think I could claim back so I rang my bank on November 21st and also sent a letter by recorded delivery making a complaint of missold ppi , thinking they can only say no and it's cost me a stamp and a phone call . On the 29th of November a letter came from Santander , thinking it was the claim forms I put it to one side thinking I will fill it out later when I have a bit of spare time , hard with four children to run about after !
Anyway a couple of hours later I opened up the letter to see that they had put my loan agreements in with a fso form , thinking I was being rejected , I read on to my shock I was being offered 3757 .57 in total , couldn't believe it ! No forms to fill in just sign and send back! At the bottom of my letter it said unfortunately after cancelling your ppi in t
2009 on your last loan the ppi was only part cancelled ? So your future loan repayments will be reduced to 240 from December ? Anyway I recieved my payment direct into my account on the 10th December so it was a nice Christmas , I am a bit miffed of the idea that they have been taking 21 a month from me for the last two years with out my knowledge , and I didn't even get an apology. I am now doing the same with capital one and stone acre as I was told I had a better chance of getting the car if I took out insurance , I have been rejected by them as they say I knew what I was signing for , I am not saying I didn't know , I am saying I told I had to have it , as I don't have a good credit rating ! Fingers crossed as the fso say it looks like I was missold the whole package so I will keep you posted !!0 -

Your story is the same as mine - my loan which I am still paying off is from being 'advised' to add my credit card debt to the loan and I too had PPI added. This happened every review and each time I just racked up more debt on the cards making it easy for them to offer to add it to the loan. I remember the first discussion with the initial loan saying I didnt want the PPI and being told that it came with the loan. When you are desperate to improve things you just go along with it. I have finally managed to pay off all my credit cards now and just have the loan. I put in a claim on the PPI in November last year - not heard whether it will be upheld yet though.
Good luck with yours0 -

HI All
I am preparing a spread sheet to track what I think should be the amounts I receive form each of my claims assuming that my claims are upheld. I have the amount of PPI pid etc, and my main question is around my credit cards and what gets refunded.
Do the ppi payments made only come back with the 8% or does the APR interest on the ppi paid also get refunded. For example, as I was stupid and only paying the minimum monthly payment, any of my PPI charges would also be attracting the APR etc. DO these also get refunded?
Any comments greatly received.0 -

They should look at all loans you had with them, you have given them all the account numbers,as this was rolled over to every loan from the first one, they should redress on all.0
