Hi, have to say that it took a while from them agreeing to figures but then the cash came quick and straight into the bank. Hope you get it soon. It might be quicker having gone through the FOS.

Hi, not sure if anyone has posted on this point, I did have a loan with PPI and due to unemployment the protection came into effect for several months. Would i still be able to claim on being missold

    thanks

If you were mis sold, then yes you can.
Just to let you know, you cannot use the "would not cover me" because it did, also the ppi may have been less than the amount they paid you when you claimed,so they uphold but you get nothing,if the ppi was less than what you claimed, you get this back, less the amount you claimed.

    Hi can any1 help.
I had a loan with abbey and one with lloyds.mi can vaguely remember seeing something n one of the agreements that said payment plan. I know I specifically asked for no ppi on each loan.
I can't locate the agreements and have today wrote a letter to each requesting t and c's and agreement. Some1 I know said they rang abbey, asked if they were paying ppi they said yes, she said I did not want it and they sent her 900. Now this seems a bit straight forward to me.

My question is shall I go through the right channels and send off my letters and wait for info requested or just call both companies on their dedicated ppi lines and go from there??
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Give them a ring,it is faster,if they need a questionnaire they will send you one.

Had a Halifax mortgage for 3.5 years, and was sold a mortgage PPI over the phone when applying. Was told it would help the application.
Was never asked about existing Income protection policies, (which were running already).
Had we needed to claim, we would have been over insured, and only a proportion of the payment made.

Claimed by the Halifax questionnaire in November 2011.
Received final response letter today, upheld!:T
Refund on the way of just under 3K premiums and interest!:j

Egg card is being particularly stubborn..."No No and thrice No"! Anyone had any success with Egg?
I took this card out in 1999, and paid it off in 2006. I'm sure it was a pre-ticked box. I did cancel it somwhere along the way....only for it to be reinstated "free for 6 months" or something by Egg as a "Loyalty " freebie....yes, and then they left it on again until I noticed many months later and had to cancel it again just before I left them!!!

Hi, I have being sorting claims for my husband who had no idea what he had on cards, loans etc and egg did payout quite quick and easy. I think we used the PPI template on the main site for that one and it seemed to be the most straight forward. Try the FOS if not having any joy, GOOD LUCK

Just missed a call from the FOS regarding PPI from Capital One (they were waiting on further info about my case when I spoke to them last week), not that hopeful after reading the last couple of pages but I'll call them tomorrow to find out what the latest is...

    On another note...

What are the chances of me reclaimimg on a graduate loan from HSBC in 2000? The loan was done face to face and I was definitely told at the time that PPI was compulsory, not sure I even have any documentation relating to it (it'll be in the loft somewhere if I do).

If you have reasons for mis sell, then put a claim in.
Look here for reasons for mis sell

You only need the account number.
  • I was thinking about trying to reclaim and had also been approached by a company who take 25% of reclaimed money. I then had to have time off sick from work and realised that the current PPI on my existing loan was worthless, that is I couldn't claim on it.
I revisited your site for advice and chose to attempt the reclaim myself. Luckily I had the policies and paperwork for four concurrent loans and they were with the same lender, which has simplified things. I used your downloadable forms, followed your advice and received a letter from Santander today offering me £9,000.
I am still in a state of joyful shock. Thank you so much!
I would encourage anyone to go for it. Your advice and forms made it achievable for me. Once again, many thanks.

Thats fantastic. We have called our bank straight off and avoided claims companies. Just waiting now for a response. :j

Thank you. I'm sure everyone's claim is different in complexity etc but it only took four weeks for the settlement offer. Good luck!

    Hi Dina

The number of PPI cases referred to FOS against Capital One Bank was over 6700 in the first 6 months of last year - only MBNA, BOS, Barclays, Lloyds and HSBC had more PPi complaints and alarmingly only 13% were resolved in favour of the consumer.
Again, I do not understand how their figures can be so low!

They are a truly dodgy bunch - but if the dates don't add up then you keep fighting them an don't let them get away with it. Best of luck!

Keep up the great work everyone and we might get them yet!! :)

I really was shocked by the low figures, they certainly don't add up in my eyes!

I am determined to fight this one all the way, surely they have shot themselves in the foot. It would appear that they didn't check details sent previously in the SAR before giving me a bog standard fob off response! Fingers crossed that the FOS will look at this in my favour and I will keep you all posted!

    Hi,
Capital One rejected my complaint and I also escalated it to the FOS but like you, am not hopeful of a positive outcome! Can you give me an idea how long I can expect to wait for a response from the FOS? I sent the forms off at the end of November and received an acknowledgement letter in the first week of December advising to expect a further response within 3 weeks but have not heard anything further. I know they are inundated at the moment but maybe I should chase them?
