Morning to all, just wanted to update anyone that has been waiting for Loans.co.uk to rspond, cough up the readies. We had a letter from them in August 2011 saying they would uphold the claim and send through figures. We finally got a settlement letter mid Dec for 7,500 and returned it to them on 22nd Dec and the money went into account on Fri!!!! Have spent it all however on paying off credit cards and some off of orginal loan but will be good in the long run

Sent my claim form into Welcome last wednesday (5th) Had a letter this morning to say that they couldnt find me details, (which is odd as they gave me the account number over the telephone but ho hum!). Its now being passed over to the investigation team.

The lady I spoke to on the phone has said that they have no backlog at the moment so they are processing claims in a little under 8 weeks, so good news for anyone waiting.
Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.

  • Hi, not sure if anyone has posted on this point, I did have a loan with PPI and due to unemployment the protection came into effect for several months. Would i still be able to claim on being missold

    thanks
  • Posted a while ago that Natwest upheld my PPI claim and offered £1600 which i accepted. The loan was restructured and monthly repayment amount was reduced to £111. This was fine for December by today i see they've taken£121 for January! I rang them up and got passed to 5 different depts (no exaggeration!) before being told that they would need to set up an investigation to find why the amount has changed!!!

How are these companies so incompetent? Does anyone know why the repayment amount would change between months?

I submitted my complaint on 27/09/11 following receipt of SAR info as I did not realise I had been paying for PPI. My complaint was rejected on 26/10/11 as I apparently "purchased PPI when I applied for the credit card". I am disputing this and wrote again to Capital One on 5/11/11 asking them to reconsider the decision for the following reasons:

A copy of the application form was not provided as proof with my SAR info and I asked for a copy

According to the SAR info received, PPI started on 26/01/03 and this is inconsistent with reason for refusal as the start date of the credit card was 5 months earlier!

No response was received following my letter so I have now referred it to the FOS althouh given published figures, I am not holding out much hope! I will keep you posted...

    Hi Dina

The number of PPI cases referred to FOS against Capital One Bank was over 6700 in the first 6 months of last year - only MBNA, BOS, Barclays, Lloyds and HSBC had more PPi complaints and alarmingly only 13% were resolved in favour of the consumer.
Again, I do not understand how their figures can be so low!

If they are, as Citibird mentioned, only sending their sales script rather than a full transcript of the conversation why has it not been highlighted or at least suspicions raised. They didn't employ androids to sell their products and therefore they cannot say with absolutele certainty which route those conversations took, what was said, or implied. Only they are to blame for negligent record keeping.

They are a truly dodgy bunch - but if the dates don't add up then you keep fighting them an don't let them get away with it. Best of luck!

Keep up the great work everyone and we might get them yet!! :)

I think it would depend on your reason for claiming the product being missold was. But again saying that, I spent hours looking at these posts and did see quite a few people had made successful claims despite having benefitted from the Insurance previously.

I suspect it would depend on who your claim is against and how vehemently they intend to defend them - recently it seems that some people are having little inconvenience, so you might be in luck.

Nothing to lose if your complaint is refuted but it might be upheld in which case it is definitely worth it. Go for it!

    Good luck :)
  • Hi can any1 help.
I had a loan with abbey and one with lloyds.mi can vaguely remember seeing something n one of the agreements that said payment plan. I know I specifically asked for no ppi on each loan.
I can't locate the agreements and have today wrote a letter to each requesting t and c's and agreement. Some1 I know said they rang abbey, asked if they were paying ppi they said yes, she said I did not want it and they sent her 900. Now this seems a bit straight forward to me.

My question is shall I go through the right channels and send off my letters and wait for info requested or just call both companies on their dedicated ppi lines and go from there??
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You can still claim if you have a reason for missale of course.Check what type of PPI you had,was it front loaded single premium for example?
If it was then this type of policy has good results on claims.

Bearing in mind you claimed successfully that will limit any accusations you have in relation to the policy being unsuitable or ill advised.
I believe with refunds on policies where there has been a successful claim the banks pay out the refund amount less the amount claimed whilst the policy was running.

I went staright though the phones to start my claim with RBS. Didnt have to fill out any paperwork, just explained to the chap what had happened and why I was claiming. Few months later had £1600 in my account! Best of luck.
