Photo copy a few statements and the letter they sent today and return by recorded mail and Its the waiting game I am afraid!

You are not the only victim of these unscrupulous banks delaying tactic.

Don't be stressed they are winning and hope you will give up , keep going
I have had the same in a couple of claims and in the end FOS. For them I will wait, it is worth it in the end to recoup the money they have fraudulently taken.
so statements would be good enough for ombudsman if i have to go that route?
I also claiming for loan ppi and got letter yesterday about that saying they are trying to locate my documents, but i sent them a photocopy of the agreement for that with my initial claim because i still had it so fingers crossed

If they do not look into the matter if you have proof ie statements etc.
yes I would send the copy statements along with their letter and FOS form, it is fairly straightforward to fill in and send recorded they will reply to keep you updated.

You may have an easier time with the loan especially as you sent copy agreement.

Hopefully things will be resolved in the end, its the waiting that is frustrating !

Had a settlement figure from mbna but it says on the letter upheld, then goes on to say cheque to be sent within 28days? Confused folks, will the cheque be sent?

Husband got the same 28 day letter but cheque was received within seven days. They do appear to be one of the quickest payers and very easy to deal with. He only sent an e-mail and was paid out within three weeks of sending it. Wish all companies would take note - it can be done.

how is it possible for me to get my original agreement, been looking all morning and i cant find anything, the only evidence i have of ppi is on my card statements, and seeing as they say they cant find original docs i cant see any point doing an sar:(:(:(:(:(
  • Thanks to the wonderful peeps on here I decided to try to claim the ppi from a loan we took out with Abbey in 1997 (14 years ago:eek:). We didn't have the loan for the full term so only paid £222.96 in ppi payments. Didn't think we would have much luck as it was so long ago but thought I would give it a go anyway.
Sent an email with ppi questionnaire attached to the CEO at Santander on 18th Dec. Received a response on 20th Dec saying my complaint had been passed onto the executive compaints team. Today I received a letter saying that they are refunding my ppi payments of £222.96 plus 8% interest of £251.94. A total of £494.90:D:j:beer::T
I can't believe how easy and painless this was! Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who posts on here, I'm extremely grateful:D
Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
    Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:

    4/2/16 - 13lbs to lose:D
    11/2/16 - 12lbs to lose:D
    3/3/16 - 11lbs to lose:D
  • Bad news from santander this morning :-(,after them looking into my complaint for ppi on a old car finance loan, they responded this morning by saying they havent the agreement and then went in to say your details have been removed and destroyed! ?????? Of to ombusman folks, raging!
  • Hi All

Just wanted to add our success. give or take a few pounds

RBS MINT CC First letter sent June 2011 upheld Sept 2011 recieved Oct 2011 £2000

RBS Natwest CC First letter sent June upheld Sept 2011 recieved Oct 2011 £3000

MBNA CC First letter sent June 2011 rejected Aug 2011 Letter to FOS Sept 2011 upheld Dec 2011 awaiting £9800

RBS Natwest Loans First letter sent Nov 2011 upheld Dec 2011 awaiting £4000

    Total nearlly £20000

So our debt which we thought we'd probably pay for the rest of our lives has suddenly become a debt which is managable with a light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Thanks to all the the success stories we have read it made us think yes we can do this.

    Good luck to everyone

Having had success claiming over the phone from Barclays Bank for PPI on our overdraft, I used templates on this site to complain to both Barclays for loan PPI and RBS for Mastercard PPI (cancelled in 2006)

Barclays have paid out in full, including loans PPI refunds on previous loans that I had not mentioned but RBS have replied today saying that as I knew that loans were mis sold when I cancelled them, it is too late to make a claim.

I had explained in my original letter that at the time the PPI was cancelled I verbally asked for a refund and was told that I would not get it so I considered that my complaint had been declined then.

They have stated that although I can go to the FOS they don't think that I have a case as I have left it too long to complain since I realised that the policy was mis sold! But I can write to RBS again if I think they should reconsider.

I have written to them reiterating that I felt what I had been told verbally by a member of their staff gave me cause to think that I would not get a refund. Also stating that it was only through reading information online that I realised at such a late stage that I may have a claim against them.

Does anyone think it is worth going on with this?
  • Hi, I hope someone can help me. We bought a suite from Northern Upholstery (now DFS) in June 1999 on a buy now pay later over 3 years (interest free) and were sold ppi on the finance. We believe that we were mis-sold the ppi as both myself and my husband were in jobs that had good sickness and redundancy benefits and also we were not advised at the time (by the salesman) that the ppi was not compulsory. I believe we paid the finance off in June 2002. I have contacted DFS and they state that we need to contact the finance company who we paid the money to so that we can get a statement from them showing that we did in fact pay ppi. However, I have rang First Direct (I found a letter from them dated June 1999 regarding date first instalment was due and this has an agreement on it) but they say that they have never offered business finance to companies so were unable to help me!! Can anyone else please advise where we can go from here? Many thanks, Diane
