  • Hi can anyone help with a question i have rgarding gmac rfc? I had a mortgage with them and i think ppi. I have contacted them and they are sending me a copy of terms and conditions but said ppi claim would have to be with the insurer not them. My mortgage finished in 2007 started in 2002 does anyone know if the insurers gmac rfc used are still operating? Is it worth looking into ppi claim? Thanks

    HI little italy

i read one of your post regarding barclays old loan where they rejected your claim i think it was for 5000. did you manage to get that decision overturned? I am awaiting decision on 3 old loans from 1999/2000/ and 2001. I hope I win. thanks

Hi there, I'm new to this forum but the success I'm hearing is amazing. I have mad previous loans with NATWEST and currently have a credit card with MBNA. I have no idea what the best method would be to begin enquiring if I have any cases for a PPI claim. I've never asked for PPI and I'm not even exactly sure how to find out if I've been given it.

Any help would be very much appreciated guys and girls as you all seem to be doing so well!

    Thanks :-)

As I had an account at Nat West I just quoted the date roughly the loan was paid off 2003 I had no reference number for the loan just my account number I wrote the standard letter template and they replied that they upheld my claim , still not been paid yet since November but I am confident it is imminent .
The loan was front loaded with a set figure of PPI I was led to believe this was compulsory, had they explained my options I would have not accepted it due to medical long term problems and the fact I was employed and fully covered for loss of earnings .

Good luck with Nat West and MBNA

  • Happy New Year to everyone! a quick update on a few wins...
MBNA (Credit Card) - One quick phone call and within 14 days a reply back stating that the PPI complaint has been upheld £1578.00
Barclays Bank (Overdraft Protection Insurance) - 40 day wait, complaint upheld £ ????
Egg (Credit Card) - Waiting on a response from them.

Other wins - Picture Finance £8947.00, DFS £197.00, Barclays Bank Loan £1047.00

Keep the faith ladies and gentleman, keep going!

Did you get a acknowledgement letter first then an offer, We have been told we had PPI for a period of 2 years so hoping for a little payout from MBNA.
    • What were you reclaiming: Credit Card PPI
    • Who was the provider: Halifax
    • How much did you get back: £1140
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter only

I took out a credit card aged 22 in 2005 - and my claim hinged on the fact I felt PPI was not explained in any detail and I was definitely encouraged to take it without really considering my circumstances.

As I was claiming for PPI charges spanning over 5 years I was expecting them to either offer nothing or at the most a tiny gesture but today (5th Jan 2012) I received a cheque for the total amount.

I first wrote to Halifax in late Oct 2011 asking for a copy of the original credit card/PPI application (using the MoneySavingExpert template) and when I received this I then used the Ombudsman Questionnaire to write to Halifax again asking for a full refund.

This website is an absolute life saver!
  • Hi

I have just this moment opened a letter from Capital One. This letter reads that they are willing to make an OFFER of redress. The total amount they are offering me is £2916.54 :D "which is inclusive of all the premiums charged, the associated interest on the premiums and a further 8% per annum simple on the premiums." Now feel free to call me stupid, but what does that mean? Is it an offer that covers everything I paid or is it part of it? I have to write back to accept so please please someone tell me if it is fair and right.

    Hi There,
Just wondering if anyone can help me suss out whether ive found an agreement number or not....
Ive found a odd piece of paper that my hubby has written in my files that says 2006 Direct Line Loan then a number which says 3numbers/4numbers/9numbers.

Is this an agreement number? If so would I still need to send for a SARS or is there a alternative?

    Much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Had a settlement figure from mbna but it says on the letter upheld, then goes on to say cheque to be sent within 28days? Confused folks, will the cheque be sent?
  • Thanks MSE, did not know or think I was mis-sold until I read your article.

Had a £10000 home improvement loan in 2006 and finished repaying 8 months ago. Only thought I might be eligible due to your article.

Just recieved my offer for £2,480.......... my whole PPI plus interest,

Thanks again, I always did resent paying for something I knew I didn't really want or need. Chances are they wouldn't have honoured the policy if I needed to use it, for sure they would have had small print to prevent me from doing so and the Ombudsman agreed !!

    Hi Guys

Just wanted to feedback our story and hopefully encourage others to have a go.

When i married my husband he had acquired a large amount of debt around £35,000. He was unable to pay it and after charges we started our debt management with a total debt of £48,000 pounds 3 months after we married. We have followed this plan for the last 7 years. it has been a struggle over these years but we have managed to pay a portion of this off, but to be honest after 7 years the debtors were not playing ball and began to begin charging us interest. it felt like we would never be able to beat this.

About a year ago while doing the yearly big paper sort out i found my husband original loan agreement and was shocked to find that £6,000 of his original loan was PPI. So I downloaded the template and send it off. I had one reply to say that received my letter and then on 23rd December 12 weeks later. I received a letter saying they were refunding £9,500 which is over half of the remaining debt.

Finally I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks moneysavingexpert
