How can i find out if i had ppi on a bank loan from the bank of scotland. Is it hidden what do i do to find out ?.Any help thank you .

If you have the agreement it will say a seperate amount for ppi and interest,if it is not there, then you dont have ppi.
  • Have just had a very interesting telephone conversation with Barclaycard, my initial claim to reclaim PPI was rejected because the representative had explained the policy to me blah blah blah....how he/she could of I don't know as I was certain it was a postal application. Well I wrote to them in November to say that I rejected their final response and if I did not hear from them I would take it to the FOS. Well, no reply.. So I phoned today and asked them if they had received my letter and if so did they have a response?? The lovely lady said well you have had a final response so we do not respond to subsequent letters unless you have any other evidence..I replied well, the letter of rejection is basically rubbish as I did not apply by phone, but a postal application and no representative explained any policy.. she said I will look at your application... she came back after 10 mins very bewildered and said I cannot see how they could have rejected your claim as their response was made before the copy of your original application for the card was received by us. You are correct it was a postal application and as far as I can see this complaint should have been upheld!!! I have re-opened the case for you and sent it off for re-evaluation, I cannot say how long this will take but at least it is being looked at for you... OMG how do they get away with it!!

Just had a reply from the FOS. I sent a letter to them in November about MBNA who rejected my claim because they used pre ticked boxes for your PPI. Just had a reply that MBNA will now make a good will offer. They have ten weeks to send the offer to me.

Fos says they need to base it on.
Assume the customer would have made the same payments to the account without PPI. Remove the premiums and interest charges that resulted from those premiums including those arising because the ongoing monthly balance because it is higher than it would have been without PPI.
Pay 8% interest per year on any credit balance for the period that the account would have remained in credit.
Pay the consumer the difference between the revised closing balance and the original closing balance.
Pay 8% interest on that difference per year from the date of closure.

This is all confusing to me so will wait for the letter.

I was given all sorts of stories delaying my payment

I discovered Barclaycards Facebook Page and posted a short statement about how I was being messed a round
The Facebook team are very good and chased up my claim and got me paid [twice, they realised a week later and I had to repay it] very quickly
    Give it a try
  • Hi, I am new to posting on the forum although I have spent a lot of time reading everyone else's posts and these spurred me on to ewrite to HSBC about a credit card I have had since .... Wait for it .... 1987!

I sent off for my original paperwork but got some copy documents back which was basically the terms and conditions and a copy of an application form (though not a copy of what i originally filled in) and this showed that you had to tick a box if you did NOT want the unemployment, disability and death cover. I therefore wrote back at the beginning of November with the standard misselling letter.

I received a great reply today offering me £9054.88 in "full and final settlement" yippee however when i have looked at the breakdown this is for the period from 8th march 2005 onwards only.

So what about the period from 1987 to 8th March 2005?

The say "please note we are only required to retain information on your account for the last six years. If you are able to provide statements showing PPI on your account for the period prior to our records, please forward these to us for our consideration"

What do I do? Surely they must know i have paid PPI from 1987 onwards but it is most unlikely i will haven't got statements from so long ago?

Can i accept the offer and cross out full and final settlement and write partial settlement and then claim for the rest? I could do with the money ..

Sorry about the length of this post and any help would be appreciated .
  • Hi everyone,

I would just like to thank everyone on here for the invaluable support given, we have just received an offer letter from Lloyds TSB for £3690.06 in redress of our ppi complaint. This aims to be paid by 1st feb 2012. We have been very fortunate in that our journey so far has taken 10 weeks from our initial complaint and we are hopeful that it won't take much longer.

I will keep you all updated as to when we receive payment.

Good luck everyone with your complaints!
    xx

Hi there, you need statements as proof that you actually paid ppi for the years you state, are you sure you dont have any?.

You could cross out the full and final, but you still need proof of the ppi paid to take this forward,FOS can tell you what you should do,give them a ring

  • I sent off a letter to RBS to reclaim the PPI I had paid on an old graduate loan I had in 2004, more in hope than expectation as it was over 6 years.

Today I received a goodwill offer from them for just over £1500.
