PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi,
I recently made a successful claim against Halifax Credit Card, after using the letter template (thank you Martin!). A cheque arrived unexpectedly approximately 8 weeks later. Consequently, I am now going through all of my finances to see where else this could apply.
My current Tesco Credit Card, which I've had since 2006 has PPI, but as I am currently using this card, I'm a little hesitant about making the claim, incase they ask me to settle the balance or something. I know I probably shouldn't be scared and obviously I realise that I will be without cover, but not sure if I should or I shouldn't... Any ideas??0 -
Hello All,
I was just wondering if anyone is having the same problems as me with M&S Money:
They say that I did not have PPI with them and have provided me with payment statements and a copy of the credit agreement. It does not however show a breakdown of the loan, interest, PPI (If any), etc
Is there anyone else in the same position.0 -

What's the problem? Do you think you did have it? If they say you didn't I think nyou can be fairly confident they are telling the truth.0 -

What amounts of ppi were there on the loans and were they settled early or did they run to term?
The cc will depend on how much ppi you actually paid and if you ever had a credit balance.
Ask them for a breakdown of all the accounts you claimed mis sell on,is it possible this is only redress for maybe one or two of your claims?.0 -

The statments wont show ppi,if it was included in the monthly payment as on your agreement.0 -

They cannot ask you to clear the balance, unless you win mis sell and are in arrears, they take the redress of the card in this case.0 -
Hi
I put a claim in on behalf of my Daughter and Son in Law and they have just phoned to say they have received an offer from LLoyds this morning.
Can I ask if they can safely assume the offer will be for the correct amount?
I've just read the last couple of posts and it would appear it can take ages for Lloyds to actually stump up! Is this the norm?
Thanks in advance for any advice
They should give you full redress, the ppi paid given back and 8%.
They should send the calculations out so the redress can be checked.0 -
Hi, can anyone advise me on a PPI claim I have rec'd a rejection letter on.
It was for a credit card I took out in 1994 and was paid off 18 months ago, so account now closed.
I dont have the original paperwork and would not have applied for insurance cover on the card as I was a Civil Servant (sickness benefits etc is automatically paid).
The bank have written back and has said they have no records either, as they are not required by law to keep anything over 6 years old.
They have said that the ppi started in 1994 and I applied for it on the application form (but how would they know if they dont have the original paperwork either?)
They also state that as the ppi was referred to on my statements I could have cancelled it at any time by writing to the insurance company? Fair point but to be honest I stupidly didnt know what it was.
They also say that if I had claimed on the ppi i would have received the benefit of the cover? I have trawled through the internet and loads of sites are saying the civil servants, armed forces and retired people are exempt.
Sorry for the long story.....but should I continue with my claim with the Ombudsman or go to one of those companies offering assistance as there is no original paperwork so its my word against the banks?
Thanks for listening/reading0 -
Write back to them and tell them you dont accept what they say and ask them to reconsider or you will take this to FOS,they have enough info to know that you took it,how do they know this if they have no records?.
Use the reasons you stated above and look here for additional reasons that may apply to you
