PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

  • I have started to receive some success with my PPI Claims which is great and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone here for help and advice.

In some cases the redress I have received has not been offset against the debt. I have a DMP and was told by the company who operate it that it was more than likely that the redress would be used to set off against the debt.

    Two questions:

    1. can I negotiate full and final settlements in relation to some of the debts, and do I have to use the company operating the DMP?
I ran the DMP myself initially until Barclaycard insisted that I must use a company.

    2. Three of the debts are subject to charging orders, two of which I would be able to settle from some of the money I will receive? I suppose none of them would accept less than the full amount to settle?

    Any advice would be appreciated

Ring Citi speak to Amy she will tell you breakdown of figures and if your cheque has been processed. They had a load of cheques into the department last week. Ring them.

Thank you , that is really helpful. I have the Citicard number but they passed the claim on to Opus. I had closed the account before Opus took over and no-one seemed to want to deal with me, hence sending it to FOS. Will certainly try them on Monday and let you know how it goes.

My HO is on DMP with debt agencies on behalf of companies, and I am aware that they will take a reduced amount as final settlement, as we have been offered this on a number of occassions over the phone with more than one of the companies. The down side would be that it would record on your credit file to this effect, but your credit file would have already been damaged anyway.

Could I ask what companies are not off setting redress to the debt, as we have had four upheld and two paid off the debt automatically, and we are waiting to see what happens with the other two. The two upheld ones we are waiting on are Halifax and Sainsbury's (BOS), as the letters detailed the redress but said it would go onto OH's credit card and then cheque issued. I cannot see that that would happen, and the deadline is up for receiving chq, so we were going to telephone this week to see if paid off the balance.

I received a letter from Lloyds TSB offering a sum on Friday, they said it will take 28 working days, although going from the posts on here - I am not holding my breath, but I still feel very pleased with the result and also very happy for others on here who have received the money they rightfully deserve! I hope you all have a very merry christmas xx
  • I filed a complaint against Lloydstsb for PPI and used the template on this forum and received a letter stating my claim was being investigated this was about 4 weeks ago. I received a letter yesterday with a cheque attached for over £4500 which was double the original PPI paid so happy with the outcome and have no complaints from Lloydstsb who dealt and paid-out within a month :T

If you closed it with Citi they wouldnt have passed it to Opus, would they? Can't see why they would have unless it was just a case of have ALL the accounts closed or otherwise either way you will get it sorted they are paying out pretty much everyone.

    Hi,

I am hoping one of you people 'in the know'! can help me with my calculation.

After waiting an eternity for my Halifax CC redress, I finally got the cheque. I requested a breakdown of the figures and one part of it has me confused.

The start date and the amount they have paid back all look fine. They have given me 8% simple interest for any months in credit and also given me 8% simple interest from date account closed to refund date. This is where my question comes in - the date they have put the account as closed is November 2011. The refund date is December 2011. So they have given me £9.04 interest. I am confused as to where the 'account closed' date has come in as the credit card account is still very much active - I still use this card. The PPI was cancelled on it in 2005.

Can anyone help me with this? I don't understand why there would be an account closed date on an account that is still active. At best I thought this would be the date the PPI was cancelled. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Spoke to Lloyds last week, its taken 8 weeks for them not to pay the money they owe me... they said that it has been passed to another team to be sorted.

They have also said that their are some payments not made from people who had their claims settled in July. My claim was settled on October 20th so the 4 week turn around is nonsense.

Bizarre thing is, a workmate got their Lloyds Credit Card PPI paid quicker than I did, they claimed 6 weeks after I did. Lloyds reckon cards get paid out quicker than loans - god only knows how considering the claim has been finalised????

I hope you get paid before Christmas, please let us know how you get on.
  • thanks octo i will not build my hopes up but hey ho it will arrive sometime makes my blood boil people who do not keep promises but we are dealing with banks here.
