PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

  • I have just recently received notification that I have been successful in reclaiming some PPI. However I am concerned over the amount of their charges (30%). The amount won back is over £11000 so the charges are some £4000, that's a lot of money for doing not very much by all accounts. I am considering offering only 10% see if they will take it, I will also push for an itemized bill for these charges and if they cannot justify their 30% then I may let them take me to court. I'm not afraid of "BIG COMPANY" and as always money is the most negotiable product on the planet. I would welcome any feed back from any one who has done this or is considering it
  • £616 back from barclays
    £86 back from Barclaycard.

More to follow, but thanks for the help so far people.
  • Just had a letter today from C/one saying that they will not pay back the PPI on my card as they feel that I could benefit from the insurance, also that despite the fact that I ticked no on the original agreement I then supposedly took out the PPI when activating my new card over the phone two years later. As a long time civil servant, I cannot benefit from this insurance....which is why I ticked the no box, derrrr. This is what I said in my complaint, obviously they have selective reading abilities, cos they say I was in full time employment etc, interesting that they skip the bit about being a civvy, and they also sent a standard transcript for selling over the phone and not my actual conversation, well it says india on the tyres of my car it doesn't mean I go there, point being just because it states the advisor should say this doesn't mean it happens!!!!
So as they say this is their final response, its off to the FOS, delay tactics don't wash with me, they just make me even more determined.

IF HIND SIGHT WAS FORESIGHT WOULD I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE OPTICIANS???

Had exactly the same thing from Capital One.Did not tick the box, phonecall 3 years later etc etc. They could not provide any transcript to the call just made assumptions.Sent my claim to FOS on 25th Nov and not heard yet.

I have a claim for something else in with FOS, they say expect it to be 3 weeks before you get an answer as they are so busy. Capital one are taking the p*ss, if they think that they can put me off they are very much mistaken, if they think that I won't take it to FOS, huge mistake, but also if they think that putting in terms and conditions supposedly sent 10 months before the phone call will do them a favour, wrong again!!!
What a bunch of Muppets, do ya think they'll show the muppet christmas show on the telly this year? I hope so then I can put a face to the name on the bottom of the letter.......Good luck with your claim, let me know how you get on:rotfl:

Congratulations to all the winners. Great to hear the success stories.

Still heard nothing further from Citi or FOS, despite being told by FOS my claim would be calculated and reimbursed by last Fiday. Perhaps they have all gone on Christmas holidays. Would have been great to have had the money by christmas, or at least known how much to expect, but looking more and more like it wont happen now.

Put my claim in on 16th Nov cheque sent yesterday should be with me by Monday. Very Helpful.

I would never use a claims management company. The law is on our side not the banks and there are so many people on here fighting for money back theres probably more knowledge here.

I fear you signed a contract to pay 30% plus VAT so you will be hard pressed to negotiate. They are bigger sharks then the banks and they never lose out.

Also bear in mind that you would have to pay tax on the 8% simple interest so make sure they don't take the taxable amount into account.

    Hope this helps

Well done - that is a quick result. Was that Citi? Hope you get the cheque in the bank for christmas.

I think as mine went to FOS last February they haven't really been in touch with me. The FOS letter had said I would have figures and settlement by 9th December. Problem is I do not have any contact details or claim ref for Citi as was all being done by FOS. They said they would chase it but another week has gone by. Perhaps it is the christmas post. I think I will ring FOS again middle of the week.

Ring Citi speak to Amy she will tell you breakdown of figures and if your cheque has been processed. They had a load of cheques into the department last week. Ring them.
