PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I have been going through a barclaycard ppi reclaim on the basis i was told it would help my application for the card if i took it out,
and i had know idea what it even was back then..
Had the standard letter i see a lot of others have had no evedince of mis sale and you cant contact fob as it was taken out before a certain date..
I have now obtained a copy of my credit agreement which i signed with only a small section of this credit agreement wich in a small section states,
yes i want ppi added to this policy and then it states what it covers...
No tick box option and nothing to sign separate for the ppi making it look even more compulsory to me..
Also this original copy has reminded me i had only been working with the company at that time for 3 months would i even have been covered for unemployment in those conditions..
Any tips on what to do next would be great thanks...0 -
I have been following this thread for a while which encouraged me to try and reclaim my PPI from a loan I've got with RBS. I was offered just over £6000!!! So pleased that I went ahead with it, my 28 days will be up on the 20th Dec and after speaking to the PPI people yesterday I don't hold out much hope of receiving it then from what they were saying. Typical as it would come in so handy right now!!!!Sealed pot member #1950 - £44.79

Has anyone had success claiming against Santander for DFS sofas? It's only a small amount, approx £200 but would still be most welcome. I have lodged the complaint on their website, so I'll let you know how I get on.0

If you were daft enough like me to think that you did not have the time or the inteligance (you do not need much it seems) to do this yourself and used the services of a claims company be prepared to haggle down their fee.
I have had a number of successful claims settled using a company to handle this also had a lot of trauma with their stalker like approach to getting the fee out of me.
In the last few weeks I received a surprise windfall from Barclaycard since they have taken over Egg the claim was re-calculated (unfortunately the 8% interest) and I received a cheque for £1900, now I knew that the claims company (the claims guys by the way,I do not reccommend) had not done any work what so ever on this, my Egg claim was closed. Long and short of it is, I challenged this and negotiated a lower fee, I got £187 knocked off and I stated I knew they had not performed any work and this did not warrent a 30% fee for the service , I ask for proof of the work they had done and they could do nothing but spout corporate garbage at me. So if you do not feel you have received a service worth what they are charging you, push back, they need the money. You have nothing to loose
One piece of advise make all your own claims, the help and info is out their you do not need anyone to do this for you. I really wish I had, but at the time I was strapped for cash and just thought this would be quicker.0 -

Your quite right Jaydeetee, using a claims company can mean you end up paying for nothing.
All the info you need is here on this site and its free with some very good advice
JUST a quick point it's likely you will have to pay tax on the 8% interest, and if you do talk to the taxman and let him know you incurred costs in making this claim0 -
Evening all.
My PPI success is with HSBC for a loan and is on behalf of my partner.
He called HSBC on 29th September 2011 to ask about getting his PPI loan paperwork and was told he could make a complaint over the phone. HSBC were efficient in sending out the FOS questionnaire which we promptly returned. He recieved a letter with a settlement figure of £1100 on 1st December (settlement amount was more that the original PPI amount and also 8% interest!) and the money was paid into his bank on Saturday morning (10th December)
Massive thanks to all of those contirbuting to the site and taking the time to help others out.
I've recieved a settlement figure myself from Barclays Bank today who have promised payment within 40 working days. I'll update with a further success hopefully in the not too distant future!

Hi Guys
Hope all well I haven't been on in a while but can see lots of successes!:j
I have a PPI claim in with Halifax and need to email the CEO is it still the same as Lloyds? Does anyone have the email address?
I did search but apparently the old CEO is off on sick so unsure where I am emailing too!
Thanks in advance :beer:0 -
I sent a letter to First Response Finance back at the end of November 2011. After less than a week they sent a letter back to me saying it was not them but St.Andrews Group who are an administrator of insurance. Anyway after a phone call with the FOS I was sent a pack and duly filled it in sent one part back to FOS and another to St.Andrews.
Very strange I then had a letter from Bank of Scotland who, it turns out were responsible for taking the money for PPI. They now have my letter/complaint.
If you want to claim back PPI from First Response Finance send your complaint to Bank of Scotland.
Don't believe what First Response say they sent me a letter that was factually and legally incorrect which amused the FOS. I am now chasing Bank of Scotland weekly to get sorted.0 -
Hello everyone and thank you for all of your posts, they helped a great deal. From the title you can probably guess we have won a claim against northern rock. I was just wondering if anyone has won with them lately and if you know how long it takes from sending acceptance letter back to money being deposited in bank? it would be nice to know if I am dreaming about a perfect christmas or if its going to be a struggle like every other year. Thanks in advance for any replies. Hope everyone has a nice Christmas.0

A quick update for you.
Spoke to the FOS this afternoon regarding my Central Trust ppi, the offer that came in from Central Trust was to low so the FOS have rejected it. I am back in the queue for an adjudicator , we have already been waiting for five months now. I was told to ring them back in February if I have heard nothing from them.
Does anybody out there have any idea how long the wait is to get to adjudicator stage now, I was just wondering if the FOS is still snowed under with claims.0
