i did see your reply and thank you but me being thick didnt quite understand thats why i asked the questions again .
so your saying that with the credit card they can use the whole amount including the interest to pay off the debt
and with regards to lloyds tsb even though there are no arrears on the loan as it was paid in full they can still use the ppi refund to pay of a lloyds tsb credit card or bank account over draft.
The credit card certainly, the loan a little less certain but they would be fully entitled to recover any debts held by the debtor, if given the option ask to be paid directly so that you can decide what to do, whatever happens you will at least have less debtSuccesses

Looking for some advice..been paying PPI on this account since May 1999 til about a year ago. Anyway the sixteen weeks has come and gone and i phoned today to be told that they couldnt really work the figure out so they were going to offer £1500 as way of a goodwill gesture. I reckon i paid much more than this. Any help please? I have registered complaint with FOS. Can they be made to look at figures?
Im pretty sure that under the data protection act the bank only has to hold details for 6 years (if you still bank with them, they may keep these records longer) so unless you have statements to prove otherwise they may be telling the truth. but if your in no rush for the money, i cant see no harm in referring it to the fos incase they may be hiding anything
best of luck:D:p Perfer et obdurai dolor hic tibi proderit olim

Hi just thought we would share our experiance with you,
We read about PPI reclaims in the national press and phoned one company who advised us to contact the company direct, which we did. We called them on 28/10/11, to which they said they would send some paper work out, we recieved the paper work out on 02/11/11 and returned it 03/11/11. we heard nothing until today when we got a letter saying they had excepted the claim. The claim dates back to 2001-2003 the claim was for £449 and with an acceptance form to sign for £2903.31.
VERY HAPPY
Well Done ........

Hi,
I read everyone elses stories on this website, and had listened to my brother who had successfully claimed back PPI, but I really didn't think to do it myself. However, we have had many loans and credit cards over the years!, I had a few statements but absolutely no paperwork for the loans which go back to 1994, so I thought it was worth trying for the cost of a stamp, and all the advice was on this site, which made it very easy, I claimed using the template letter, and we have received £1000 in credit card claims, and £12000 :jin 2 of our RBS claims, I'm sending the others to the Financial Ombudsman, but I think they go back too far. I just wanted to say Thank you to Martin Lewis and all the others who's stories encouraged me to claim. The RBS paid the £12000 directly into our bank only 1 week after receiving the acceptance letter.

Report your story in the following format:
- What were you reclaiming: loan PPI
- Who was the provider: Halifax
- How much did you get back: £250
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
- And then write your brief reclaim tale: I wrote to the Halifax regarding an old personal loan that I took out online. (Letter and FOS Questionnaire sent 4th October). As I remember it the website forced me to take either Gold, Silver or Bronze payment protection. I ended up paying the loan off early so didn't pay much PPI. I've just received a cheque for £250 which is all the PPI paid plus 8% interest.

How much did you get back: £3,546
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Didn't even have to write just made a call to their dedicated PPI hotline
And then write your brief reclaim tale - Simply told their Customer Advisor that I felt I had to have either their bronze, silver or gold PPI package.
Mine was a 5 year loan for £10,000, got the 8% interest and got my offer within 10 days of initial complaint. Egg are next on the list!!!:j0 -
