on some accounts he is in arrears, when the company makes an offer do they just use the ppi payments they are refunding to pay off the arrears or can they also use the interest they have awarded.
also he had a loan that he paid ppi on and has been awarded a settlement figure for this. the loan was finished in whole but he has a c/c and a bank account with the same company . can they use this to pay his overdraft on bank account or the arrears on his c/c.
with regards to above can anyone help.
Q1/ if rewarded ppi refund on a loan that is closed with lloyds tsb can they use that money to pay off debt on lloyds c/c or overdraft on current account.
Q2/ if rewarded ppi refund on a credit card that is in arrears can they use the whole amount awarded including any interest added towards the debt on the credit card.
thanks for any help.0 -
Hi everyone. Awaiting on result of missold ppi from Sanntander,. Rang them yesterday and was told a letter was about to be sent out to me but he couldn't tell mde what was in it as it had to be signed of by a manager. Was he fobbing me off and didn't want to tell me the bad news or do the successful claims have to be signed off? Anyone help? /0

I took out a personal loan with barclays in 2003 for £10,000, I was working full time and explained to sales person that I got paid from work if off ill 6mths full pay 6mths half pay but felt I wasn't goin to get the loan and just signed. I was paying £268 a month in repayments in 2007 I had to resolve the loan after being off work sick with stress for a long period for which my employer paid me. I had to reduce my hours at work and fell into arrears on my loan, I sort help from the bank the member of staff who I saw that day pointed out that the PPI was of no use to me and removed from the loan. The loan was resolved and after 4 years I still owed the bank £7000, granted I was in arrears for a few months and interest was added but this can't be right.
I downloaded the ppi questionnaire from this site and sent it to barclays early October 2011 I had a response within 2weeks giving me a reference number and that they were looking into it. I got made redundant this year and am a bit desperate so I contacted the CEO by email on the 5/12/11 and got a response today from them saying that my claim has been upheld and they posted a letter to me on 2/12 and I will be paid out within the next 40 days. Dont know how much i'm getting until the letter arrives but anything will be a bonus right now. I'll let you know how much and when I get it. Thanx Martin x0 -
i'm having some problems with Santander on an old Abbey credit card ....
the card was taken out in 1998 and passed to MBNA in 2001.
MBNA has refunded the PPI they charged from October 2001 but say I have to go to Abbey (now Santander) for anything they charged before October 2001. Santander says MBNA took over everything to do with the card so should pay up as they were sent all statements etc when the admin agreement was made. Santander say they have no record of anything and me supplying statements isn't going to help. They said even though Abbey became Santander, the credit card was before they bought it (but was active while they had it) and want nothing to do with it. They only have their own Santander credit card launched a few years ago.
The same with 2 old Alliance and Leicester credit cards. These were used and closed before MBNA took over in 2003.
Santander took over A&L but say not the credit card business which was always with MBNA. MBNA say they have no record of my accounts (this is obvious because they did not take over this) and Santander say they have no record of any A%L credit cards. So I seem to have no-one to claim from as both MBNA and Santander don't want to know.0 -
Hi just thought we would share our experiance with you,
We read about PPI reclaims in the national press and phoned one company who advised us to contact the company direct, which we did. We called them on 28/10/11, to which they said they would send some paper work out, we recieved the paper work out on 02/11/11 and returned it 03/11/11. we heard nothing until today when we got a letter saying they had excepted the claim. The claim dates back to 2001-2003 the claim was for £449 and with an acceptance form to sign for £2903.31.
VERY HAPPY :beer:0 -
Looking for some advice..been paying PPI on this account since May 1999 til about a year ago. Anyway the sixteen weeks has come and gone and i phoned today to be told that they couldnt really work the figure out so they were going to offer £1500 as way of a goodwill gesture. I reckon i paid much more than this. Any help please? I have registered complaint with FOS. Can they be made to look at figures?0

I have an old loan from 2000/2001 which (for various reasons) fell into default in 2004. Its been to debt collection and there is still money outstanding.
However, In November I received a letter stating my complaint had been upheld and that they estimated the "redress" figure as around £5,500. The letter said they would process the payment within 40 working days but included some blurb for accounts which have arrears.
This was rather ambiguous but suggested they might apply the redress to the outstanding balance.
Yesterday I received a cheque for nearly £7,000.
Good luck to you, let us know how you get on.0 -

so your saying that with the credit card they can use the whole amount including the interest to pay off the debt
and with regards to lloyds tsb even though there are no arrears on the loan as it was paid in full they can still use the ppi refund to pay of a lloyds tsb credit card or bank account over draft.0
