PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi Folks ,
Just had good news from Black Horse, they are going to repay £2414 on two personal loans going back to 2004 . It was so easy , filled out the complaint form regarding one loan which i payed off 12 months ago , luckily i still had all the documents clearly stating the PPI charges . Also noticed they had filled out the PPI acceptance box automatically , which i pointed out to them on the complaint form. Sent it off beginning of October and a couple of weeks later received a letter stating they were investigating . They even looked at loans from years before 2004 which i did not take out PPI . Received a letter today 30 Nov to confirm they had upheld my complaint , not on the one loan i complained about , but two loans in total . With 8% interest . One letter , no phone calls , no struggles , 9-10 weeks.....£2414 . :beer:0 -

Hi, can someone please help me out. I received a letter from Barclays regarding 1 of 3 claims against them, it was for an old loan of £5000 where I had PPI on it. I know it was mis-sold however they have written back to me to say that the claim has been declined. All the usual garbage in the letter...like we cannot find any issue with how you were sold the PPI etc.
I need some guidance on what to do next. Thanks.0 -
£86 from Barclaycard. Not much but a start, awaiting the replies from 2 loans this week.0

Just had an email from FOS satating they have issued a letter from Tesco Personal Finance to me in regards to an offer of redress.
Anyone like to guess what it should come out at as...
Loan taken out in 2004
Loan amount £25,000
PPI £5695
Repayment period 36 months
Loan Settled 24 months into the agreement.
I hvae people say it should be within the £10k to £12k brackets when simple interest is added at 8%.....Current debt:
Barclay Card - £4900, Creation Card - £7000, American Express - £2400, Nation Wide Card - £3600, Black Hourse Loan - £10500, Car Finance - £5k.0 -

Thank you for your letter dated 29th November 2011 regarding my claim against miss-selling of the PPI policy. As a long standing customer I find your response unacceptable and I would therefore like you to reconsider my claim against you, given that your reasons are not valid for the rejection of my complaint.
I would like to highlight the following in relation to the miss-selling of the PPI which I believe were highlighted as common faults and errors by Banks and Building Societies during the High Court ruling, in my case the following occurred:
1) I did not ask for PPI.
2) You mention copies/ transcripts of phone calls – this is impossible as the sale took place at the local branch.
3) Your member of staff did not explain that PPI was optional.
4) Your member of staff did not offer the option of purchasing PPI with another provider if I had wanted PPI in anycase.
5) The cost/benefits of the PPI were not fully explained by your member of staff.
6) I was not asked about any pre-existing medical conditions.
7) I was not asked about any existing payment cover that I held.
8) I already had sickness/redundancy/accident cover with my employer, at my employer’s discretion.
I look forward to hearing from you within the next 14 days with a satisfactory decision.
Yours sincerely,0 -

Bank of Scotland PPI refund
I submitted two complaints to Bank of Scotland in May this year, one for a loan and the other for a 'Preference Account' credit card. In late August they upheld my complaint and agreed to refund me in full. I returned my acceptance letter August Bank Holiday weekend and have been waiting since then for figures. On my most recent call to them last Friday, I was told that my claims were now classed as 'Priority' and that they aimed to send out cheques to all claims in this class by 15th December. Well today I received 1 cheque - for which claim I don't know, as there was no breakdown letter enclosed. I have spoken to them, but their systems are down, though the nice man I spoke to confirmed that another cheque will be following, together with breakdown letters, in due course. It's great timing for me and I'm very happy with my treatment by Bank of Scotland, even though the wait has been a little frustrating. I hope this gives hope to those others awaiting figures and cheques from Bank of Scotland, and all other banks and organisations. It's been interesting following this thread and I'll continue to do so. A special thanks for those posters giving out lots of wonderful advice and support. :T0 -
Received 3k cheque this morning from MBNA on a credit card. I only sent the complaint letter two weeks ago, so very impressed with their PPI team.0
