HSBC wow, received my acceptance on 22nd November, nearly £9,000.00 back in my bank this morning.
Merry Christmas to me, I think some of these banks need to take a leaf out of their book! Surely if one bank can pay out in a week so can they
Think your one of the lucky ones i sent my letter to HSBC on the 4th October and all i've had is a letter saying sorry but it's going to take a while because there are so many people claiming!!0 -
I'm a very happy bunny I've just received a letter from HSBC offering me £2233.43, just the news that I needed. :rotfl:
That'll pay for next years holiday (I haven't had a holiday this year as I couldn't afford it) and leave me with change :j!!
Thank you all for your help and advice :beer:0 -

Well done could I just ask did you take ID into the branch? I've just sent off my acceptance but wasn't sure if I needed to go into the branch or not as I've read alot of posts saying that when they've been in the branch had no idea why they were there
Thanks in advance0 -
Just received mail and my cheque from RBS is in hand, although, there is an ongoing dispute in regards to the restructure of the loan that this refund refers to. But hiho hiho it's off to the bank we go.Thanks to all the competition posters.0

Hi All - Great News!!!
After exactly 11 months of battling with Natwest (RBS), my partner recieved a refund for mis-sold PPI on a personal loan of £7500!
He applied for the loan 8 years ago in a Natwest branch and was informed at the time that becuase he had what Natwest considered to be a highly dangerous job (hardly dangerous - he was an engineer using CNC machines) he had to take out the PPI cover in case he suffered an accident at work. Not knowing any different at the time, he signed on the dotted line as needed the loan. To compund matters they sold the loan to him as a single premium loan so not only was he paying PPI he didn't really want, he was being charged interest on the PPI as well which he was unaware of!
Although this is fabulous news, what I'm a little unsure of, is that on the repayment statement Natwest sent through, they have deducted 20% VAT - is this normal? Surely if they are repaying him money that he has been charged in error, they shouldn't be deducting VAT from the refund?

News from BOS yesterday of a 3k refund on a loan, only sent the letter two weeks ago.
Same day I received news from Lloyds of a credit card refund of 3.5k (had a refund letter from them last week of 6.5k on loans), so that's 13k refunded to me in a week. Delighted.
Shame about a Barclaycard knockback though.0 -

Hi bex
They said that to me too...I think the norm is 8 weeks but HFC/HSBC have been given special dispensation to extend to 12 weeks (in my case that would have been a few days before Christmas) but they sorted it with a month to spare...be patient and keep the faith !!!0 -

I think it's 20% basic rate income tax from the interest they're paying you. All interest received is seen as income (has always been like this).
The PPI refund and associated refund is not taxed as it's YOUR money they're returning.
