    Hi Di & Dilus,
Thanx so much for your replies - I will post up their response (crap one) tomorrow as it's about a 4 page rejection letter!
I will reply on my own thread as it's sooo long and let you know as soon as it's done.
Was feeling very dejected over the weekend about my ppi claims as I know it's very early days yet but of all the 21 claims, many are not looking very hopeful :(
Anyway, today is another day and I am up for a fight with them all!

On a mortgage PPI claim should there be 2 or 3 figures in the payment breakdown?

How likely is it that the calculations if an offer of a refund are correct? I’ve received a breakdown of my refund of PPI from a credit card that I’ve had from 2004 and only just cancelled the PPI in September. I could be wrong, but I was expecting the total premiums to be more, however they assure me that the figures given below are correct:

    Refund of all premiums £1265.73
    Refund of interest £354.24
    Interest at 8% £85.75

I’ve had a fairly consistent high-ish balance on this card so I was expecting there to be more PPI paid.

I’m wondering if I should send in a SAR request so I can make sure, but if it’s likely that they’re right then I don’t want to pay out another £10 for nothing as I don’t have my statements going back more than a few months.
    Depends who this is with?
Do you have any details of how much ppi you were being charged each month for your ppi cover?
If not I don't think you need a SAR, i'd say you'd be better asking for previous transactions on the history of your card, just like the bank charges, but you don't ask for all your statements, you ask for a list of transactions, sometimes they give you these on a SAR sometimes they don't and you have to request them.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

    Hi,

I have received an offer of £4202.99 from bank of scotland :j:j:j:j regarding 2 loans was wondering if someone could have a look and see if offer seems right not good with calculations, the details are:

Loan 1 started January 2002 paid when took second loan in February 2003(Apr 12.9%)
    loan amount:£4050
    Insurance: £1137.32

    Offer is:
    refund of premiums: £824.01
    refund of interest: £172.72
    8% interest to 14/11/2011: £899.66
    excess balance and interest: £189.64

    TOTAL: £2086.03

Loan 2 started February 2003 paid when took another loan in July 2003(Apr 10.9%)
    loan amount: £5722.00
    Insurance: £2185.34

    Offer is:
    refund of premiums: £537.13
    refund of interest: £132.86
    8% interest to 14/11/2011: £1254.52
    excess balance and interest: £192.45

    TOTAL: £2116.96

    Many thanks in advance.

Looks ok to me, but some of the others are better at calculations, but ideally you'd need the amounts of the ppi monthly charge.

You say loan 2 got paid off by loan 3, there could've been some carried forward into that loan, you'd need to know the settlement figures for paying off loan 2 with loan settlement and ppi settlement, as if there's a difference it would've been carried forward, plus was there ppi on loan 3?:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Finally had success on Barclaycard ppi in October, after initial rejection end of August. But since FOS letter of 13th October confirming that I will receive refund, have heard absolutely nothing from Barclays. Although letter stated the usual "could take up till 8 weeks to receive payment" line, there was no timeframe for Barclays to actually make me an offer. All FOS said was that they would write to Barclays after 14 days to say I was happy to accept.

Now we are fast approaching December and, still, no sign of a Barclays offer. Consider that complaint has been ongoing since October 2010 and Barclays should have paid out in the first place, as it was a pre-20th April 2011 case! Know that plenty of others have been waiting even longer, but my patience is wearing thin. This time of year especially, that money will come in handy.

Going to chase up FOS and, perhaps, another email to Mr Diamond!
  • Does anyone know how long it takes to get a decision from the FOS?

The banks have bombarded them with cases to create a backlog, it can take anything from 12 months to 24 months :(

Two cheques arrived today of the standard offers via Lloyds, as these were old accounts from the mid 90's I did not have enough paperwork so was given an offer on both - £1,200 x 2 = £2,400.:beer:

Good well and well done to all other today's winners too, Congratulations to all. :T:beer::j

  • 20 years ago I got myself a barclaycard and have used it on and off since then. When I got it I was in the royal navy so didn't really need PPI, when it appeared on my card I assumed it was compulsory. After listening to you talk about it on Daybreak saying not to use these claim agents and just write to credit card, I e-mailed asking how I could complain. Within a couple of days, got a letter and a FSA form to fill in, which was straight forward and didn't have to send anything off. Within a couple of days got a reply acknowledging form and explaining that they were busy and had dispensation from FSA for delays but not later than early December to investigate. Had a couple of letters of apology every two weeks, then this week got a letter saying they have calculated compensation based on last 6 years as don't have statements prior to that, which is great as last five years, been buying everything on card and clearing bill every month, including my £6k honeymoon and 6 flights to Oz. I expected £2k and got an offer of £5,126, just got to pay tax on about £1k. This is a good Xmas and half towards our investment of solar panels. :-))))). Thank you Martin
