:j Not sure about what happens regarding tax of the 8% which I believe the government wants to get its hands on, anyone know about that?
You contact the tax office when you had the award.
  • i reclaimed my PPI it was a loan that was 10 years old with RBS, they issued me a letter stating i could have just over 800 pound from paying 495 pound PPI, it showed one calculation of interest but no the interest per annum. I accepted and received the money but having read that there should have been 3 amounts of calculation shown, have i been duped??
After reading the information regarding paying to the tax man it states there should be 3 lots of calculation, is there anything i can do???
  • Just had my calculations from Sainsburys/Bank Of Scotland, they have upheld in total on 2 loans £7,801.00 including interest!! (Calculated to 14th December 2011, so hopefully should have cheque in time for christmas lol) Woo hoo, I have called them and queried the original loan, and they said that I did not take PPI out on this loan. I am not sure whether to believe them or not as I am sure they were all allegedly "compulsory" but in the absence of the original loan application in 2002 I cannot really argue I suppose. In the meantime though, to say I am chuffed is an understatement!!! Many thanks to all on this site who helped!!

Now I just await Barclaycard, original claim was not upheld but I have counter argued and just waiting for a reply!!

WTG for all the other successfuls over the weekend!! :T:T

You need to go back to RBS and ask for a breakdown of how they arrived at that figure, but you shouldn't need to contact the tax man either RBS or one of only a couple of lenders who take the tax off at source from ppi refunds, you should have also received a breakdown of the three figures in your offer letter.
    Hope this helps:D

mum, if in doubt, I think Cappo may be able to try and assist in getting it over to them, that is if you know you had ppi, sometimes the loan calculators are good, I found one on 'this is money' where you can put in the loan amount, interest rate and it tells you how much it should be per month, if this doesn't match what you were paying then you may have been paying the ppi after all.
Some of the banks are unscrupulous in giving information across voluntarily, I think cappo argued for about 6 months before lloyds finally admitted he had ppi on either a loan or a cc.
    Hope this helps:D

  • How likely is it that the calculations if an offer of a refund are correct? I’ve received a breakdown of my refund of PPI from a credit card that I’ve had from 2004 and only just cancelled the PPI in September. I could be wrong, but I was expecting the total premiums to be more, however they assure me that the figures given below are correct:

    Refund of all premiums £1265.73
    Refund of interest £354.24
    Interest at 8% £85.75

I’ve had a fairly consistent high-ish balance on this card so I was expecting there to be more PPI paid.

I’m wondering if I should send in a SAR request so I can make sure, but if it’s likely that they’re right then I don’t want to pay out another £10 for nothing as I don’t have my statements going back more than a few months.

Thanks Smitchy, I will see if I can dig out some old bank statements and see what happened, I have moved twice since the loan so god knows whereabouts in the garage it would be but could be worth an afternoon's nosing around lol.

    Hi All,

A few months ago I decided to look into my 3 loans I had with Natwest many years ago. I had no paperwork documentation but after doing a SAR and formally complaining last week I got just shy of £2800 bakc in PPI!!! Thanks to everyone on here who helped. I really had no idea I had PPI so to anyone thinking the same would def recommend giving it a go!!!

We have 3 claims in with Welcome Finance - one for a car loan for 5k in 2006 (now paid off), one for a 3k loan in 2007 then topped up to 4.5k in December 2008.

We were told by the fcsc on 14 October 2011 that the claim would be dealt with within 30 days. Hubby just called up to chase it and been told the claims have been successful but as it's a large amount (they couldn't tell us how much) it has gone to higher management to be signed for.

No idea how much it could be or when it will be. Anyone else had this kind of experience?

    Any advice much appreciated.
