A big big thank you to all on this forum and Martin as we have had the letter from HSBC with an offer of just over £5000 which we will be accepting we never claimed this before as we were worried that the bank would call all our borrowing in which they have not done so please for the sake of under £2 get back whats rightfully yours

  • hi
ive had aloan with hsbc for about 5yrs and got 3 yrs left, i was told that if i didnt have the PPI included then there was a chance that i would have been refused the loan, so i went a head and took the PPI, im finding it hard financially at the moment, and i want to try and get the PPI cancelled but im abit weary with dealing with the big guns, should i go for it
advice would be well received ty xx
  • im trying to work out if i should make a claim or not.
about 5 years ago we took out a loan for £15,000 or so with egg....we had ppi as dh was basically told he wouldnt be given the loan without it.
within a year i took out a loan with a much better apr and no ppi and paid it off.
is there still anything for me to claim back off them or is it no good because i had the loan for less than a year then paid it off? i dont really understand how they do the ppi and attatch it to the loan etc.
would be greatful for an answer and if i should put a claim in then i will look into it but dont want to waste time if its no good.
  • and i have a barclaycard which i have had for 7 or 8 years now...blance currently only 150 but has been as high as 4,000 with limit of 5,500....that has ppi on it......is there anything i can do with this?
i dont remember requesting ppi and and pretty sure if asked i would have said i didnt want it.

    Hi there

Do you have the paperwork for this ? or at least the agreement then?

If not you can request for this from HSBC in writing but enclose a £1 postal order or cheque for this, they should supply this within 12 days of request.

In regards to your PPI reclaiming, check out the terms and conds on cancellation first, as some will do this but expect you to take a new loan without the PPI, so its well worth double checking on this with the company first.

    Check this link out here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
For more info on PPI mis selling and reasons, there is also a template letter you can use but try to use your own words if you can and obviously your own reasons.

They have 8 weeks to respond in full - post by recorded delivery.

Another letter maybe required if not successful first time round and once you have exhausted their complaints procedures they should let you know in the final letter about the Financial ombudsman service with an enclosed leaflet with the FOS procedures.

Good luck and please keep us posted in case any further help is required.;)

    Hi there

If you read the post I just posted above this will occur to you also, and you can try to reclaim on both loan ppi and credit card ppi.
Follow the procedures of what I posted in the above post.;)

Good luck and if you require any further help, please let us know.
    Cheers.;)
