PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi all from a newbie poster,
Just to let you know I have also had success reclaiming PPI with Alliance & Leicester. I sent a letter off on 21st January 2009, they wrote back a week later to say they had my letter then on 21st February I received an offer of 2.5K which includes 8% interest. This was on a 13k loan taken out in 2005. Just waiting for the cheque to arrive now
Thanks to everyone at MSE for the template letter and your help through reading these forums. I was surprised how easy it was to reclaim. My dh clearly remembers them telling us we had to take out PPI in order to have the loan.0 -

Hi everyone. Just thought I would tell you all of my recent and suprisingly quick success.
Wrote to Barclays bank on 3rd December asking them to pay back £572 plus £104 interest (£676.13 in total) that they have charged me for overdraft PPI. Didn't hear anything within the 8 weeks so wrote again. Got a letter back from them on 11th February giving their usual response. They also sent copies of letters regarding my application for overdraft PPI. I wrote back again on 20th February and pointed out to them that I never actually applied for PPI only an overdraft and as I was unemployed at the time I would not have been covered and that I was never told it was an optional policy as I never applied for it.
Anyway, logged on to my bank accont yesterday (26th February) and blow me there is a credit for o/d ppi refund of £685.91.
Thankyou very much Barclays Bank. Now please stop messing around with the FOS and pay back my Barclaycard PPI.
Just so you all know (and I know you lot aren't stupid) but please check your bank statements if you have an overdraft and check to see if you are paying ppi on it. It appeared on my statement as o/d protection.
As you can see you can also claim this one back too.0 -
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that I just received a letter from RBS with an offer of just over £6,000  for PPI on a loan we had over 5 years ago with them. It only took one letter (using the template from here) and 6 weeks of waiting. I honestly cant believe they agreed so easily and quickly - had prepared myself for battle with them!
Honestly wouldnt have done it had it not been for this site and the encouragement I got from reading everyone else's tales. So a big thanks to you all!!
Now Im off to fight the fight again with FP - something tells me this one wont be so easy!0 -

Hi hun
There's sweet of you with your thoughts to everyone else.:AX
Right I am aware that Welcome Finance were not covered/regulated until approx 2003, it may have been 2001, hopefully someone can confirm this, the FSA had taken over GISC regulation in Jan 2005, so for instance if you are not successful the financial ombudsman cannot look at these complaints if the companies were not covered by the above regulators.
However, what year was it when you first taken out the loan/ppi?;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
