Took out loan of 9000 5years ago and have just reclaimed ppi. Used information and copy of letter on your web site and have had a confirmation letter today of an offer of £2264.83.

The company was Alliance & Leicester and the reasons for claim

This is due to the fact that your member of staff did not ask me about any previous medical conditions when the policy was sold.

This is due to the fact that you have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests.

It was so easy i used the 1st letter and did not even need to cotact The Financial Ombudsmen Service.
Thanks to Martin's money tips we will be £2264.83p richer and only 2 payments left on loan.

Congratulations and well done :T  , great news !

  • I appeared with martin on the TONIGHT programme(in london),back in oct/07.i took a loan out with a certain blue talking telephone, which was advertised on tv.we applied, twice on line and were refused twice.so i rang up and asked why,did i do it wrong?was it a computer error?.the woman on the phone did'nt ask my name, address or post code, all she asked was "did you include the ppi".i said no 'cause i was already insured.but she replied "sorry but this company won't give you the loan without it".so i took the loan.then GOD appeared on the TONIGHT programme, about it.i emailed, got a reply and went to london.
now this is the best bit.i wrote to RBS,about this,(they bought out that company just after we took the loan out)they said no,did it again and they said the same thing,no.so sent it off to the FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN,who took this up for us.on 03/12/08,we received a letter off them saying SUCCESS :j .They said RBS has decided to give it to us "as a goodwill gesture".we sent the letter back to F.O.saying we accepted the gesture,BUT,we're still waiting!!!!!!.have emailed the F.O. now we're awaiting a reply off them,to tell us whats going on.

I have an outstanding claim for a loan I took out originally with Lambard Direct in 2004, i sent both template letter to them but go nowhere so i sent all the document to the FO in January 2008, I got several letter from Jan to July saying it was still to be looked at. I phoned on various occassions but with no luck, all i was told was that that they had a ll paperwork that was required and when they had some news they would let me know. I recieved a letter on 1st Dec 2008 to say RBS was going to settle with a goodwill gesture (no figures mentioned) just glad to know they hadnt forgot about me | signed the form and sent it back, they said it would tak between 6 and 8 weeks ( that would have given them to wnd of January) I have phoned the FO today and have been told to give them another couple of weeks as the guy i spoke to said they have been chasing and numerous other claims every second day and dont seem to be getting a result!!!!!Lets hope we hear from RBS soon, I'm loosing all faithicon9.gif

    Hi there

It is bad that you have had to wait as long as this, I would write back with the permission of the FOS as they were dealing with your complaint and send the company a Letter before action letter, (LBA), I no longer have mine, but would have posted a copy of this for you, but you could write to them and tell them they have had ample time to arrange the refund and send this to you, if you do not receive this within 14 days you will again consider further action. It worked for me last year, (a different company though).

But make sure if its okay to do this first with the FOS and send them a copy as well.;)

Good luck and hope you hear soon.

out of the blue Egg wrote to me asking about PPI that was put on my account when i opened it.

i called them and told them that it was added without my consent or knowledge (i think it was 2004) and i had since cancelled it for that reason.

i didn't think i would be owed anything but today received a cheque for £270.94 :)

thank you Egg - i normally have bad things to say about Egg but they have redeemed themselves this time

i am wondering why they didnt simply knock it off my balance as i still owe over £2k but still - better in my pocket
    :j:jwelldone i love a result:j:j:money:

  • Hi everyone. Just thought I would tell you all of my recent and suprisingly quick success.

Wrote to Barclays bank on 3rd December asking them to pay back £572 plus £104 interest (£676.13 in total) that they have charged me for overdraft PPI. Didn't hear anything within the 8 weeks so wrote again. Got a letter back from them on 11th February giving their usual response. They also sent copies of letters regarding my application for overdraft PPI. I wrote back again on 20th February and pointed out to them that I never actually applied for PPI only an overdraft and as I was unemployed at the time I would not have been covered and that I was never told it was an optional policy as I never applied for it.

Anyway, logged on to my bank accont yesterday (26th February) and blow me there is a credit for o/d ppi refund of £685.91.

Thankyou very much Barclays Bank. Now please stop messing around with the FOS and pay back my Barclaycard PPI.

Just so you all know (and I know you lot aren't stupid) but please check your bank statements if you have an overdraft and check to see if you are paying ppi on it. It appeared on my statement as o/d protection.

As you can see you can also claim this one back too.
